Third POV:

Silver's smile stretched across his face as he happily walked out the large double doors of the hospital. After a long week of staying in the hospital he had finally been discharged and outside the large building stood the familiar trio he had grown so accustomed to. Espio allowed a smile of his own to spread across his face at the sight of his lover run toward him with his arms wide and ready for his embrace. They spun each other around as they grasped one another, bright smiles beaming off their faces and gentle laughter catching the attention of a couple bystanders. Silver glanced out the corner of his eye seeing a cheesy grin spread across Vectors face as he teasingly nudged Charmy who muffled his giggles with the palm of his hands. "Do they.." Silver mumbled before getting cut off with Espios lips pressing against his. "I'm sure they're smart enough to figure it out on their own." Espio rolled his eyes planting another kiss atop Silvers brow. "Alright, alright, brake it up lovebirds and get in the car already." Vector sneered, twirling the car keys around his finger and getting inside. "I call shot gun!" Charmy beamed, toppling into the front seat with a large smile. Espio opened the door for Silver as he slid his way into the back seat, following close behind and shutting the door.

Unlike their first car ride back to the hospital, Espio found himself content and at ease. Silver's head rested gently on his shoulder, Vectors relaxed humming mixing with the song on the radio that Charmy poorly attempted to sing along to. The wind brushed past his scales cooling him from the warmth's emitted from Silvers body. Before he knew it he was back home, the car parked crookedly beside the side walk. He stay still for a moment, enjoying the peace with his newfound lover before gently nudging him awake. They held each other close as they walked inside the house. Silver's eyes scanned over the living room. It was still the same old mess he missed oh so dearly. They fled upstairs with bright smiles and interlocked hands, swinging open the door to Espios room and shutting it closed behind themselves. The two flopped onto the bed, intertwining their bodies until they were happily snuggled together as close as possible. They lay in comfortable silence, gazing into each other's eyes whilst Espio rubbed the side of Silvers cheek with his thumb.

"I've missed this." Silver purred, leaning into the soothing touch. "As have I." Espio hummed back. Silvers gaze fell to the pillow beneath their heads, his smile faltering. "You seem troubled." Espio stated, pulling Silver ever so slightly closer. "I can't- stay here you know. I eventually will have to go back to the future." Silver sighed painfully. He had been trying to avoid the thought, but now that he was healed and all was well between the two, there was nothing tethering him to the present. That is, except for Espio. "Must we dwell on that now? Why not enjoy our time together." Espio weakly smiled, only receiving a pitiful look up from Silver. "Who knows when I'll be back, if I ever do. And when that time comes it will just be for another crisis." Silver pulled away from Espios hand, bringing his hands to his chest.

"Silver." Espios stern tone quickly gained Silvers attention. "If you truly wish to return to the future, that is your choice at the end of the day.." Espio struggled to find the right words for Silver, which typically was never a problem for him. "Though I would like you to stay.. I want you to stay, not only for me but for you too." Espio held himself back from becoming teary eyed. "Can I really do that? How will I know the future is safe or a good one at that?" Silver questioned Espio who kept his gaze away from Silver. "I suppose you won't, but whatever happens here we'll be able to defeat to keep the future safe, together." Espio held Silver's hands tight. It took a moment before a smile returned back to Silvers face. "Yeah, together.." Silver muttered under his breath just loud enough for Espio to hear him. Espio wrapped his arms around the hedgehog holding him close as his eyes began to shut. Silver reciprocated by hugging the ladder as well. The two fell into comfortable silence. For once in such a long time, there was nothing but comfort. And as they both lay together, holding each other ever so gently, their minds wander to how they made it here.

And how their fates had intertwined, all by a bullet.
