Adrian.
"Get them to safety."
Jace grabbed my arm to stop me. "You can't go back there for her. She's not there. I sent a few men to check. There's no sign of Zara." He said quietly. I shook his off arm. "So what the fuck do you expect me to do? Give up? I'm going to find her no matter what!" I yelled and he held me back as I stumbled.
"Dude. You're bleeding. You need to get treated. Going to find her is just a death sentence you stupid idiot." He argued.
I brushed him aside and grabbed my gun. Just as I took a step forward, my legs gave out under me and I fell to the ground.
"Boss!!"
A few men helped me up asking questions while they did. Zara. I need to get to her. I can't abandon her. Not now, not ever. "Somebody go find out where she is!! NOW!" I yelled startling everyone of them.
At my command a group of men left the area. "Adrian we need to get to the safe house. You're still a target and Erwin's men could be lurking around." He explained.
Knowing I couldn't argue with that, I let him hold me up and we walked to the car. Throughout the whole drive I was quiet. Where could she possibly be? Could she still be alive? I saw the men there. They were close to a hundred. Did she take them on all be herself? There's no way she could've survived.
I groaned in pain as I tried to move in my seat. "Stay still. You'll start bleeding again if you move too much." Jace said turning to look at me. I ignored him as I tried to figure out where Zara could be.
"You're gonna get a headache from all the thinking you're doing Adrian." He sighed. "She's going to think I abandoned her Jace. She risked her life to come save me. What if doing that just killed her?"
Jace stayed quiet for a while before speaking. "Adrian. You're seeming to forget that she's a highly trained assassin. She's going to be fine." He said and I scoffed.
"Are you just plain stupid or you're refusing to see reasons with me? THE WOMAN I LOVE IS OUT THERE! WITHOUT ME!!" I yelled ignoring the pain I was feeling. He cursed before slamming his foot on the brakes. I jerked forward and hisses in pain.
"You think I don't know that? I care about Zara too! You make it look like I don't." He yelled and I just looked at him.
"Don't you dare raise your fucking voice at me, you bastard." I spat and he rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry boss. Do me a favor and just let me take you to safety." He said then started driving again.
I stared out the window and let out a sigh. Wait for me Z. Please.
Two months Later.
The clinking of glass made me look up at Ravi who bowed and apologized repeatedly. I scowled and motioned for her to take away the tray. I glanced back at the papers and files on my table.
A knock on my door made me clear my desk and sit up as Jace, Romero and a few other people walked in. They saluted in respect and I just stared.
"What?" I asked and Jace made a discreet face at me. I looked at the people behind them. Two boys and a girl. The boys were obviously trying to keep a brave stance with a lot of effort and I was slightly impressed. The girl on the other hand kept looking around in fear. I glanced at her hands and noticed they were shaking terribly.
I stood up and approached her as a path was made. She gasped in shock as I stopped before her. I studied her for a while without saying anything.
"Boss? Is everything okay?" Romero asked but I didn't answer. I leaned closer to the girl and she backed away falling in the process but I was quick to grab her hand and pull her back up.
"Chiama Maddox. Manda i ragazzi con lui a firmare Omertá. La loro formazione inizia in modo efficace."
The boys looked confused but followed Romero out of my office. I waited till the door was closed before stepping away from the girl.
"What's going on?"
"Who is she?" I asked taking a seat on the couch in the office. "We rescued her when we went for the pick up. She's been held hostage by someone. We don't know who. She's not speaking yet." He explained and I nodded and looked at her. She was already staring at me.
I pulled out my gun and aimed at her. She flinched in fear and whimpered. Jace swore and stepped in between the gun and her. "What the fuck? What are you doing?!" I frowned.
"Move aside Casciani." I didn't have to speak twice. Jace reluctantly stepped aside. He knew I wouldn't just shoot her unless she gives me a reason to.
"What's your name?" I asked. She shook her head. Tears were already streaming down her face. I let out a breath. This is taking my time. I was busy before they brought this bullshit for me access.
"Hey. It's okay. You can tell him your name. He won't hurt you." Jace coaxed as her eyes darted from him to the gun then me. She still shook her head now sobbing refusing to say anything.
"Fanculo."
Slightly repositioning my hand, I pulled the trigger. It hit the lamp close to where she stood and the glass shattered to pieces. She screamed and Jace made to go to her but I raised a hand to stop him.
"Xyra!" She shouted as her body shook. I put away my gun and returned back to my desk. Jace looked at me like I was crazy. I sighed and walked back over to Xyra.
"Xyra. Did that scare you? Hm?"
She couldn't meet my eyes. After a few minutes she finally calmed down and could answer some questions.
"How old are you?"
"15." She mumbled. She kept fidgeting with her hands.
We found out that she was sold by her mother who's a drug addict all for some sachets of powder. And at the age of 12. The dealers who bought her initially ended up selling her to the people who she was just rescued from.
From the marks I could see on her body I knew they did terrible things to her. I can only imagine why her speech is affected too.
"Who did you say was their leader again?" Jace asked as I realized I didn't hear what she said last.
"Uh...Um..Mason."
My eyes shot up.
"What the fuck did you just say?" I asked lowly as I rose to my feet. "Ma-ason. He-e b-bought m-me."
Well look who's candle just burned out.
