Adrian.Jenna glared hard at me. I simply ignored her. "You're being unreasonable Addy!" She yelled. I stayed expressionless. She groaned and stormed out slamming the door shut in the process.
I could understand why everyone was on edge. They've been extra careful with their words and actions around me. Last time I lost control of my anger and shot someone who called Zara a bitch saying she used the Mafia.
He can't walk anymore. But he's alive. It counts.
I closed the file I was reading just as someone opened the door. I stared in shock and surprise as she walked in closing the door behind her.
She casually dropped her birkin bag on the sofa and sat beside it.I remained speechless. She looked absolutely stunning and her eyes were as warm as I can remember.
"Will you keep staring?"
I cleared my throat and went to sit beside her. She sighed before pulling me into her embrace.
"I've missed you Bambino." She whispered softly as her hand ran through my tresses. I held onto her and took in a deep breath.
Strawberry Vanilla with a hint of chocolate musk. She smells divine.
I winced as she smacked my head. "It never occured to you once to come visit your mother?"I scooted away knowing she'd hit me if I answered wrongly which I did because she threw her bag at me when I said "I've been busy."
I caught it and stared at her incredulously. "This is an expensive bag Mum. Easy will you?" I chided and she glared holes at me. "What do you know about expensive bags Jax?" She stood up to make herself a cup of coffee.
"Jenna likes to talk about stuff like that to the boys. Leaving her with me was a terrible idea by the way Mother. A teenage girl with hundreds of Mafia men." I pointed out.
She turned and smiled before continuing what she was doing. "The Hundreds of Mafia Men willing to die protecting her? What a wonderful choice I made."
There was no point arguing with my mother. I was clearly in the wrong. It's been close to a year and we've barely had a proper conversation.
So I can tell where her anger stemmed from. "I'm sorry Mama. I should've checked in on you." I sighed and she shrugged."I was fine on my own. It's not like I didn't notice the 20 men you stationed to keep tabs on me for the past few months." She said and I looked up at her surprised.
"20? How'd you know their exact number?" She smiled calmly. "Oh. I invited them all into my home and fed them. Hungry set of boys. They become adorable puppies while eating. Have you been starving them?!" She asked the last question with a heavy amount of seriousness in her tone.
"No Mother. I haven't."
I stood up and offered her my arm. She picked up her bag and took my arm and we left the office. While we walked every single person we passed bowed in respect at my mother. While staring in awe of course. She truly is a sight to behold.
"Hold on. Where are my other sons?" She asked as we entered the living area. Where the said 'sons' were.
"Mrs Romano!" Romero said in delight as he came over to hug her. She let go of me as she hugged him tightly.
"Mother!!" Jace shouted noticing her as well. He rushed over and engulfed her in a bear hug. She laughed happily as he set her down.
"Ohh my pretty boys!" She said and kissed each of their cheek. "How have you been?" Mero asked and she shrugged lightly with a smile. "I'm doing well as you can tell. You visited last week like always!"
I turned my head at that statement. Jace and Romero froze for a second before coughing awkwardly. "Last week? Like always? How long has this been going on?" I asked. My voice void of any emotion.
"Um Uh ever since she moved out."
Mother stared between us in concern. All hell was immediately let loose. I let my fist swing and it missed Jace's face by an inch.
"WHAT ARE YOU?! AN IMPOSTER?? YOU'RE NOT HER SON YOU DUMBASS!"
Romero held me back as Jace fell to the ground in shock as he stared up at me. "Adrian! Enough. You are all my sons." Mum said holding my face in her hands.
I stared at her in disbelief.
"No Woman! I!! I AM YOUR SON! Not these two posers. Let go of me!" I snapped at Romero who promptly released his grip on me.
She laughed and held my gaze. "Yes Bambino. You're my son. My only son. Okay? Calm down sweetheart." Her soothing voice quickly eased up my nerves. Just then Jenna walked in.
"Mum! Hold on what's the ruckus all about and Jace? Why are you in the ground? Oh dear Lord." She walked towards him and helped him up. He was still in a state of shock. She patted his cheek lightly and he blinked back at her.
"Oh thank fuck. He missed! He fucking missed. I should be on a hospital bed right now." He cried as he let his head fall in relief.
I rolled my eyes at him. "You're one lucky bastard." I spat and he waved at me. Jenna exchanged her pleasantries with Mum as they entered the kitchen talking between themselves.
I turned to Romero and Jace.
"You two. Follow me."
They looked better themselves uncomfortably but complied and followed me. When it was clear to them that I was heading towards the basement Jace spoke up.
"Um Boss? Why are we heading to the basement?" Oh so now I'm his boss. Not his supposed brother.
I opened the door to the training gym.
"Go in." I ordered. Romero moved faster and rushed in with Jace and I following. I locked the door and stashed the key card in my pocket.
Romero dramatically fell to his knees."Forgive me!!" He cried out then pointed a finger at Jace.
"He made me do it. Forgive me Boss!!" He cried out again as Jace stared. Stunned.
I tried hard to keep a straight face but it was challenging because it seemed like we were in the medieval times and I was about to sentence them to death.
I had thoughts on it though.
Jace also dropped to his knees. "Take my life Sire! I don't deserve it!"
Dear Lord.
