Chapter 17: Antidote

Keith's POV:

"Keith!" Talon yells as he comes running frantically down the steps of the apartment. Sawyer and I had just got back after finding absolutely nothing livable. Most of the houses have spores growing in them, or are ready to cave in.

We didn't go out that far because of what Talon said: That the Sonus' get even more populated towards that way.

"What?" I call back. I'm not very fond of the man. He reaches the bottom of the steps in record time and he say's, "It's Britt, she's gone. On our way back we found her footprints, but there has to be at least two other people with her. We found a tranquilizer dart in the ground, it belongs to the Originals." He then holds up a small brown dart.

"Where did they take her?" I snap, snatching the dart from his hand.

"Their footprints are going that way," He points to where we first came from, "Towards the factory."

I curse under my breath and head up the stairs, "Marcus!" I yell.

He immediately stands when I walk in, "Yeah?" He asks.

"What happened? How the hell do you not notice her walk out the door?" I snap.

"I'm sorry, Keith. I heard a commotion in here so I came to check on her but she was gone and the front door was open. I looked for her outside, but a Sonus chased me off, I had to come back. I couldn't find her... But I did hear something; I heard horses." He admits.

"There's no sign of struggle, and she more than likely would have yelled or kicked something, she went outside on her own. The horses belong to the Originals." Talon crosses his arms and paces in distress.

"Why would she do that?" Sawyer asks.

"I don't know, but she was in a rush," Talon continues, "She left the door open to enemies and she left her guns, everything. She wasn't thinking right."

"A Sonus could have easily driven someone insane, but one of us would have heard it." Cain comments.

"She's not a fool. Something had to have driven her out of the house." I growl, sitting on the couch.

"I think she's seeing things." Ashton comments.

"What?" I ask.

"I think he's right." Talon agrees.

"Why?" I ask again.

"Because, she's paranoid more than usual. Not to mention the other day she stopped walking and just looked around, she looked freaked out. A few times when she comes around she looks shaken up. I know that doesn't prove anything, but it's not hard to miss if you hang around her." Talon comments.

He then sends me a dirty look and I glare back.

"Maybe we should track her footprints." Marcus breaks the tension.

"We can't go now because it's getting too dark." Talon sighs.

"We'll go in the morning." Cain says.

I'm up at the first break of light and readying my weapons in the living room. Suddenly Ashton comes storming out of his room and out the front door, "Ashton?" I ask.

Getting no reply, I stand and look out the door way. He comes storming back up the steps and shoves past me, slamming the door, "Son of a b****!" He yells.

"What is it?" I ask.

"It snowed last night! Her prints are gone!" He fumes in anger.

"Ashton calm down, I know you're her brother and you're worried, we all are. Her prints more than likely led to the factory, so lets just head that way, now calm down." I growl.
