Chapter 23: Just Doors Away

(Picture of the "pet" above. You'll understand it later. If the picture is not visible, please let me know.) -Bri*

Brittany's POV:

I take off running a different route to the hospital rooms again. That's when I hear him say, "Oh, here we go again." His voice doesn't even present any worry that I've gotten away, if anything, he sounds bored that he has to put the effort in to find me. Even though I know he's a good ways away, it sounds like he's next to me.

Where could he be keeping the guys? I stop for a breath beside a room just in case I need to hide. Maybe that's what that locked room was for. I bet his key's are in the operating room. I hear his familiar calm humming and take off again, hoping this is the hall that will lead me to the operating room.

After a few turns I make it there and frantically start looking for the keys. I didn't hear them on him, so maybe they're on a hook or something. I flip over papers and look through drawers. I hear him coming again and quickly duck behind the operating table, covering my nose from the awful smell.

I hear him walk through the room, "Don't make me send my pet after you, Sunshine!" He say's in a singsong voice. When Talon said he was crazy, he really meant it.

Wait, what pet? I don't want to know. Then again, I always find out in the end anyway. Once he's gone I quickly stand and start going through his things again. Upon doing so, I find my guns. I quickly put everything back in my belt and throw as many of the guys guns in my backpack as I can. I load my pistol and put the butcher knife in my backpack.

I open the drawer above the cupboard and find a set of keys. I take them and quickly run into the waiting room.

"Alright, you give me no choice! Find her, Pet!" He yells. Man, I really hope this 'pet' is imaginary. I try the different keys and none of them fit. Eventually after the fifth key it opens.

I open the door and find nothing but a medical equipment supply closet. I curse under my breath and shut it, deciding to keep his keys.

"Looks like you took something that belongs to me, Sunshine!" He sings out. That's when I hear growling. Oh no, he made the second Savage his pet... And it's not imaginary.

I take off running and apparently find a detour to somewhere I haven't been yet. I look at the sign hanging from the ceiling: Hospice. Technically, I've been in hospice through this whole thing. I shake the meaningless thought and take off running again.

I stop right before I'm about to round the corner when I hear growling and sniffing. Oh no. I take off back to the hospital rooms and run inside one of them, shutting the door. Luckily there is no one and nothing in here.

Having no where else to go, I quickly get on the ground and hide under the bed, pulling the cover down so he won't see me.

A few minutes later and I hear him opening all of the doors, calling me. This guy's nuts if he thinks I'm going to reply.

He eventually opens my door and I hold my breath, keeping my gun to my chest.

"Ohhh, Sunshine?" He calls. Suddenly his pet walks into the room, but I can't see it. It sniffs around the floor for a minute, then stops at the bed. It sniffs a little bit more, then growls by my feet. I scream in pain when the thing grabs my left leg between it's jaws, dragging me out while tearing the flesh in the process.

When it pulls me all the way out, I get a good look at it. It's about the size of a Great Dane. It's structure is slim with a grey color on the top that fades lighter as it gets to the stomach. It has large five inch spikes down it's back that get smaller the farther down the spine they go. It's claws have to be about three inches long while it's tail is a good three feet long. It's eyes are a golden yellow with a look for blood.
