Chapter 21: Flammable

(Picture of the Savage above. If the picture is not visible, please let me know.) -Bri*

Brittany's POV:

I stare at Keith in curiosity; Talon and him both seem tense.

Marcus pulls a flashlight from his bag and hands it to me, "What didn't you find?" I ask, referring to the fact that all he does is loot around everywhere.

Well, it's now or never. I put one foot on the first step and Talon grabs my arm, making me stop.

"There's a guard down there somewhere." He tells me.

I look at him strangely, "You mean a Sav-"

"A guard." Keith growls. I look at him, then back at Talon. Looks like this is where they might have crossed paths.

"Okay, so.. What is it's specialty?" I ask.

"Yeah Talon, what's it do?" Keith growls.

Their gazes don't separate as Talon reply's, "It's basically a Savage guard dog. It has quills on it's back that can shoot like arrows. It's heart is buried deep in it's chest, meaning... The only thing likely to kill it is fire. There should be a few gas tanks down there from the storage unit, but it's a matter of getting there before getting caught."

I nod and point the flashlight down the stairs, seeing an ending but no farther.

Sawyer looks at me and raises an eyebrow as to ask 'What's up with them?'

I roll my eyes and shake my head, hoping he gets the point not to ask.

I draw my gun and put it over my flashlight. I take a second step and wince when the stairs squeak. They're metal, but old and flimsy.

Once we reach the bottom, it leads down a long hallway. I keep the flashlight towards the end of the hall. The floor is concrete, drops of blood on it. The walls are white but stained yellow and old. I see a door to the right and carefully try to open it, but it's locked.

I'm really trying to stall going down there.

Eventually we end up at the end of the hallway, and the only option is to turn right. Once we do so, it leads to a big room. To the right is a large thick glass wall, which is cracked like a spider web, that leads to a different room with just a chair in it. That must have been where that locked door led to.

To the left is a chair as well, but it has leather bindings that have been broken. On the ground is blood everywhere around the chair.

Talon keeps his head down and Keith looks ready to kill something.

At the far end, on the left side of the room, is a door. With no where else to go, I head that way.

"Do you know how to get to the top?" I whisper, just barely audible, to Talon.

He nods and takes the lead, glancing once at the chair. I look back at Keith and see he's not walking, he's staring at the scene.

I walk back to him and he looks at me. I nod my head towards the door and he sobers up, following this time. Talon opens the door and I catch up to him, taking the lead with him since I have the flashlight.

Taking a left I notice a red glowing light on the top right of the hallway, so I turn the flashlight off to save the battery. I put it in my belt and aim my gun, continuing down the hallway.

It's so quiet it's unreal. The only thing heard it the light patter of our footsteps.

Taking a left at the end, I automatically freeze. The room is about the size of an average living room, but round, and to the left is the storage that has the gas tanks, to the right is a door marked: Stairs.
