Tom.

His muscles burned like a scorching heat - it was all he could feel. When he lifts his hands, a sanguine flow stains so beautifully against the contrast of blues. It's wet, and when he clamps his fist he can feel the way it's sticky residue squishes in his palm. Huh. It's strange how he can feel that. His body felt numb. If it wasn't for the present sensation, he'd feel just like an inanimate object. Just sitting there, no thoughts. He wants to panic, but his ears rang to the point of silence that lasts for what feels between a second and eons; the stretch of time is no longer a concept to be registered.

Tom.

Yelling, muffled. Is everyone okay? He feels so light right now. It would be so nice to stay in this reverie for just... a little longer. His eyes grow heavier, almost lulled to the welcoming abyss that continue to cradle his beating heart. It slows his breathing, eventually coming out shallow and cold. For a moment, even stopping. But then he starts again, slower this time.

Tom.

It slows. And slows. And then begins to shallow. He holds his breath. It doesn't occur to him to stop.

No - nothing's coming out. Even if he tried, nothing's happening. He feels a struggle within his chest - like an innate need to let go. It swells and swells, and it suffocates him, the pain unlike anything he's felt.

Just breathe.

Right. Breathing. He needs to breathe. How do you breathe again? Will he die? If he doesn't breathe again, he will die, right?

Tom.

No. Not yet. His finger twitches.

Come on. Wake up.

.....

............

.....................

"...Tom...!"

Huh?

"....Tom......wake..."

He snaps through his haze, eyes forced open.

"...UP!!"

Like a bucket of cold water washed over him, he awakes to a blinding light. And suddenly he feels a thousand needles shoot through his nerves. Taking in lungfuls of air, he feels the white around his eyes dissipate, the fogging beginning to clear up and renew his vision once again. The cold nips at his skin, the blood and sweat that drenched his body not helping his case. The first thing he notices is the crunch of rubble beneath him and the awful roar of an engine that nearly deafens him. But he's alive, and that's all that matters.

"What..." he begins, but his voice only comes out in a strained rasp. "...happened?" He coughs dryly, yet excessively before swiping at his crusted lips.

Edd hauls Tom up by his good arm with a grunt, and catches him just before he decides to stumble back down to the ground.

"Tord happened," he says simply.

A small teaser for a book I want to sorta try write? Surprisingly not a reader insert... nor a smut book. I wanted to try writing angst lollll maybe taking place sometime after The End, if u couldn't tell. I only have a rough idea of what I want, but like usual I'm just winging it idk, I'll see if anything comes of it. I read another book that had angst and reincarnation (a combo which I'm an absolute sucker for) and I wanted to give a go myself. Not sure if it would interest any of my readers out there, but I thought it'd be interesting.

But if I did think about making it into a reader insert after all, I could absolutely make that work. I just thought of a brilliant idea while typing lmaoo but either way imagine: tension, unrequited feelings, betrayal, death muwahahaha I love it. Anywho, sorry about the lack of real content this week - I gotta study for my upcoming exam in a couple weeks time so I'm kind of.... Concerned. I'll try pump something out but this weekend.
