Kiyoomi sighed, "I still don't believe any of this," he muttered.
Atsumu frowned, "What d'ya mean?"
Kiyoomi shook his head, "I just- A month ago, we were trying to kill one another - well, I was trying to kill you - and now we're sitting here talking like I haven't given you half of those scars-" He gestured to Atsumu's legs, "-and you haven't caused me to invert and lose control more times than I can count."
Atsumu sat up, scooting over so that their shoulders bumped, "I think that now that we have no reason to fight, or pretend to fight for that matter, we're jus' left with us."
Kiyoomi scrunched his nose, "What does that mean?"
Atsumu placed the palms of his hands flat on the windowsill behind him and leaned back to study the ceiling while he spoke, "Like... Before everythin' was revealed, ya were fightin' for the safety of yer family, an' so was I, but our situations were slightly different. While I had a choice to fight to keep my family out of harm's way an' for a better future for the city, ya were forced to fight so that yer cousin wasn't harmed. Ya put yerself through hell to keep him safe, an' I put myself through a whole lot of physical pain an' mental torture to keep up an act to keep everyone I care 'bout safe. It's the same thing with most of the metas in this buildin'. In a way, we're more alike than we realised, but our situation made us see each other as enemies. Now that we're out of that situation, we don't have to view each other as enemies," Atsumu paused briefly.
He looked at Kiyoomi, only to find his obsidian-green eyes staring at him intently.
"Sorry, I'm ramblin'," Atsumu apologized, turning away and laughing awkwardly, "I don't actually remember where I was goin' with that."
Kiyoomi shook his head, "No. I think I understand."
"Ya do?" Atsumu questioned, honeyed gaze back on Kiyoomi.l
Kiyoomi nodded, "Yeah. We were able to put our weapons aside and talk, and we figured out that we actually get along."
"Exactly!" Atsumu agreed, laughing, "Not gonna lie - yer not as hot-tempered as I thought ya were."
Kiyoomi chuckled, "And you're not as spiteful as I thought you were."
"Touché," Atsumu grinned.
Kiyoomi gazed around the training room, taking everything in, and then after a moment he said, "This place is cool."
Atsumu smiled, staring out across the city through the window, "Yeah, it is."
Kiyoomi followed his gaze and they watched the sun set over the city, "How did the Adlers never find it?"
Atsumu laughed, "Bo-kun's boyfriend, Akaashi Keiji, is a meta with illusionary abilities," was all he said for an explanation, but Kiyoomi understood nonetheless.
Kiyoomi frowned and shifted so that he was facing Atsumu while sitting half crossed-legged on the windowsill with one leg hanging off, "So you're telling me that you kissed Bokuto even though he has a boyfriend?" He questioned.
Atsumu pulled his knees up to his chest, facing Kiyoomi, "Don't gimme that shit, we were supposed to be undercover."
Kiyoomi laughed loudly, "Well, your disguise worked like a charm," Kiyoomi thought about adding 'literally' but decided against it, "But, as I said that night, Bokuto's hair is pretty much unmistakable."
Atsumu smirked, "I remember ya sayin' that. I also remember ya sayin' that I make a pretty woman."
Kiyoomi's eyes widened. He had, in fact, said that, and he'd meant it too. Atsumu burst out laughing and Kiyoomi found himself entranced, watching the blonde that he'd thought was filled to the brim with hatred smile without fear. This Atsumu was a far cry from the one he met in the interrogation room.
Kiyoomi was quickly catching onto the fact that that Atsumu was just a persona to keep everyone safe, a persona called Bloodhound. The Atsumu sitting in front of him on the windowsill was the true Miya Atsumu.
Kiyoomi grinned as Atsumu's laughter died down, "I did say that," he confirmed, "And I meant it, by the way."
Kiyoomi couldn't contain his laughter as he watched a bright red blush bloom across Atsumu's cheeks.
"Bet ya were disappointed when ya saw my full face..." Atsumu muttered, mostly to himself but Kiyoomi caught it.
"I wasn't," Kiyoomi admitted and Atsumu's attention snapped towards him, "You're really pretty."
Somehow Atsumu blushed an even deeper shade of red. Kiyoomi's eyes trailed to the bandages that peeked out from Atsumu's hoodie. He turned away, that feeling of guilt pooling in his gut again.
"I'm sorry," Kiyoomi said quietly, "For all the times I've hurt you so badly..."
Atsumu's eyes widened and he pulled his hood over his head, drawing out the strings to hide the bandages better.
He breathed an amused laugh, "When we were in the interrogation room... I wasn't lyin' 'bout anythin'. Sure, I was actin', but it was only my personality I was lyin' 'bout. So, when I said that yer negative energy is painful, I wasn't kiddin'."
Kiyoomi grimaced, "I wouldn't know."
"I know. Ya said so," Atsumu confirmed, "But whenever ya burned me, ya'd lost control of yer power."
Kiyoomi sighed, studying his open palms, "Still, even knowing how badly my negative energy hurt you, I still used it on you. Losing my sanity to oblivion isn't an excuse," Kiyoomi balled his hands into fists, "I'm gonna go."
Atsumu blinked as Kiyoomi stood up abruptly, "See you around," Kiyoomi muttered before he stalked off.
Kiyoomi was fuming. He was so angry with himself, the world, and everything in it. His actions were unforgettable - unforgivable. Sure, Motoya was safe now and that had been Kiyoomi's goal all along, but, unfortunately, the ends don't justify the means.
His raged burned and he could feel the negative energy flickering at his fingertips, waiting to be unleashed upon the broken city that Kiyoomi called home - waiting to be unleashed on those who governed it.
Kiyoomi knew that if he wasn't bound by the Jackals' 'no bloodshed' rule, he would have wormholed right into the Adlers building and sent Fukuro and all of his underlings into oblivion. He would have done it without hesitation, but he respected the Jackals' ways and he'd take their code over the Adlers' any day.
