Kiyoomi gently ran his fingers through Atsumu's soft blonde hair. Atsumu was resting peacefully on his chest, tracing patterns on Kiyoomi's bare skin while he listened to Kiyoomi's steady heartbeat.

"I'm sorry if I was a little rough, Atsu," Kiyoomi said quietly.

Atsumu hummed, "It's fine. I have a high pain tolerance, an' besides, ya know I like it rough."

Kiyoomi rolled his eyes, his cheeks burning, "Sorry for being concerned for your well-being."

Atsumu laughed softly, "Aw, Omi-kun. I didn't know ya care 'bout me."

Kiyoomi sighed, "Why wouldn't I care about you? We're friends now."

Atsumu grinned, "With benefits," he giggled.

Kiyoomi face burned red again, "Yes, with benefits, but friends first and foremost."

Even as Kiyoomi said it, he couldn't deny his disappointment. Sure, he saw Atsumu as a good friend, but he also knew that he was very quickly falling for the blonde. He'd reluctantly placed some thought into why his inversions seemed to revolve around Atsumu. He knew what the implications were and he knew they were true. There weren't many people who he'd give up control and invert for to keep them safe, and there were fewer still who could pull him out of that state almost effortlessly.

They sat in silence for a moment, Atsumu basking in Kiyoomi's warm, strong hold and Kiyoomi just enjoying the peaceful moment.

It occurred to Kiyoomi that this was what he wanted for the rest of his life – to relax and wake up peacefully to no violence or worries anymore. Atsumu being with him was just the ice-cream on the waffles – could be left off but was so, so much better there. Actually, at this point, Kiyoomi didn't think he'd ever want his waffles without ice-cream ever again.

"Whatcha thinkin' 'bout, Omi-Omi?" Atsumu's voice broke Kiyoomi from his thoughts.

Kiyoomi hummed, "How much better life will be once Hirugami is taken care of."

Atsumu sighed, "Yeah... It will be, won't it? The city an' all of our loved ones will finally be safe."

Kiyoomi tightened his hold around Atsumu's waist, "It's been like this for so long I don't even remember what it felt like to not have some power-hungry dictator running the city."

Atsumu nodded, nuzzling against Kiyoomi's chest, "I don't know how ya stayed sane workin' for the Adlers for so long, Omi."

Kiyoomi scoffed, "Bold of you to assume that I managed to keep my sanity."

Atsumu frowned, shifting from his position to look at Kiyoomi. He pushed up onto his elbows and gazed sadly at Kiyoomi, whose heart began to race in his chest. Those eyes were still the bane of Kiyoomi's existence, but instead of haunting his nightmares, they were now a constant feature of his wildest dreams.

"I'm sorry ya had to go through all that," Atsumu said softly, sincerely.

Kiyoomi raised his hand and brushed the back of his fingers across Atsumu's scarred cheek, "It's okay. I'm just glad you managed to save me."

Atsumu's cheeks bloomed red and Kiyoomi couldn't help but admire him some more, "Gods, you're gorgeous."

Atsumu buried his face in Kiyoomi's chest and mumbled something that Kiyoomi didn't quite catch. Though, by the way his ears burned red, Kiyoomi didn't press him to repeat it.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Kiyoomi sighed, tapping Atsumu's bare shoulder to get him to move. Atsumu took the hint and moved so that Kiyoomi could pull on some clothes.
