Kiyoomi wasn't surprised when he couldn't land a hit on Atsumu. No matter how fast he moved or how powerful his kicks and punches were, Atsumu would either block them with his quarterstaff or dodge entirely.
With Kiyoomi's attacks imbued with negative energy, Atsumu was careful not to get hit.
Atsumu may have been reacting quickly to every move Kiyoomi made, but in reality, Kiyoomi was fast. Kiyoomi delivered kicks and punches so fast and so powerful that Atsumu wasn't even sure how he was keeping up. Atsumu was on the defense constantly. He'd kept his distance in every battle they'd went up against one another.
Atsumu knew that they'd be an even match without their powers, though. Kiyoomi's muay thai was powerful, but Atsumu was probably faster with his taekwondo.
They trained for an hour before Kiyoomi's hair went completely white with frustration and his eyes stayed inverted.
Atsumu dropped the quarterstaff instantly. He twisted on his foot and delivered a spinning hook kick to the side of Kiyoomi's head. The impact stunned Kiyoomi, who wasn't expecting it, and he stumbled backwards.
Dazed, Kiyoomi fell backwards onto the floor in a seated position. Atsumu surged forward and moved in front of Kiyoomi. He swung his leg over Kiyoomi's legs and sat down, straddling him. With a quick, decisive motion, Atsumu pulled Kiyoomi's face towards him and pressed their lips together.
He felt Kiyoomi's hands on his waist so he pulled back. Kiyoomi's hair had already reverted to jet-black. His eyes were still inverted, but he was coherent.
"I'm like ninety percent sure I have a concussion now," Kiyoomi sighed.
Atsumu rolled his eyes, "Yer welcome, ya big oaf."
"Thanks," Kiyoomi mumbled as Atsumu climbed off his lap and stood up.
Atsumu shook his head, offering Kiyoomi a hand, "Don't worry' bout it. It's what we agreed to, yeah? Ya learn to use yer powers without goin' all coo-coo an' I help ya with it when ya do go all coo-coo."
Kiyoomi took Atsumu's hand but scrunched his face at what he said, "'Coo-coo'? That's what you're describing it as??"
Atsumu snickered, pulling Kiyoomi up, "Well, my dear Omi-kun, as far as I'm concerned, losin' yer sanity to oblivion is exactly the same as havin' a couple screws loose. So, coo-coo it is."
Kiyoomi sighed, "Whatever... Let's just get cleaned up. I'm hungry."
Atsumu laughed, "Okay, then. I'll see ya in the kitchen I guess."
They parted ways and Kiyoomi went to his room to take a shower. His head was throbbing but he deemed that it was better than going into an inversion coma again. After his shower, he did, in fact, find Atsumu in the kitchen and let him have it for kicking him so hard. He didn't forget to thank him again though.
"Looks like ya two're gettin' along swell."
Kiyoomi and Atsumu were jolted from their conversation by the voice of Meian Shugo from the kitchen doorway.
"Hey, Cap'," Atsumu greeted and Kiyoomi put a hand up in greeting.
Shugo crossed the kitchen and leaned back against the counter in front of them on the opposite side of the island. He crossed his arms over his broad chest and smirked at them. Green-grey eyes flickered, amused, from Kiyoomi to Atsumu and vice versa.
Kiyoomi and Atsumu shared a confused glance before turning to look at Shugo again.
"To what do we owe the pleasure of this appearance?" Atsumu asked.
Shugo chuckled and ran a hand over his spiky slick-backed black hair, "Jus' a possible mission fer the two of ya."
Atsumu raised an eyebrow, "An' what may that be?"
Kiyoomi's eyebrows nearly raised to his hairline. Fukuro would have told Nicollas to knock Kiyoomi's teeth out if he ever spoke to Fukuro like that.
Shugo, however, just chuckled and shook his head in amusement, "Now that the Adlers have lost all of ya who were followin' 'em without a choice, we hafta start workin' on gettin' the city to follow us so that we can kick that bastard outta office," he explained.
Kiyoomi furrowed his brows, "How exactly do we do that?"
Shugo grinned, "That's where ya an' the rest of our ex-Adler friends come into play," he began, "Y'all're gonna work to shed some light on all of the Adlers' darkness by exposin' it to the public."
"Wouldn't that cause panic?" Atsumu questioned.
"What it would cause, is an uprisin'," Shugo corrected, "An' the help we need to overpower the Adlers."
Kiyoomi blinked, "But then who would govern the city?"
Shugo smirked, "Hirugami Sachiro."
"Hirugami... Sachiro?" Kiyoomi echoed, "As in, a family member of Hirugami Fukuro? He doesn't have any family though, or... That was a lie, wasn't it?"
Shugo nodded, that father-like pride shining in his eyes, "It was indeed a lie. Hirugami has a younger brother, Sachiro," he confirmed, "He's got jus' the stuff this city needs in a leader, an' he's way more pleasant than his brother."
"And how would we find him?" Kiyoomi asked, "I'm sure someone related to Hirugami would have security swarming them at all times."
Shugo's eyes flickered over to Atsumu, who sighed, "Sachiro-kun is under the Jackals' protection," he said briefly.
Atsumu took Kiyoomi's stunned silence as a go-ahead to continue, "Not long after Hirugami Fukuro an' the Adlers first came to power six years ago, Sachiro became aware of the dark dealin's his brother's organization was participatin' in, an' he spoke out against it. That caused Fukuro to put a hit on Sachiro. The Jackals were aware of Sachiro's distaste for Fukuro's ways, so we were watchin' him. When the assassination attempt was made, the Jackals intercepted Sachiro an' he's been in hidin' with us ever since."
"Holy shit," Kiyoomi muttered.
Shugo gave Atsumu a weak smile and an approving nod, "That's my third in command for ya, knows exactly what's goin' on," he commented, "That's right. We have Sachiro, an' he's ready to end his brother's reign, but first we gotta set the scene so that it's possible."
Kiyoomi shot Atsumu a glance before turning to look at Shugo again, "What's the plan?"
