"You didn't tell me that you're third in command for the Jackals!" Kiyoomi hissed.
Atsumu rolled his eyes, "Does it even matter?"
Kiyoomi narrowed his eyes, "Of course, it does."
Atsumu stood up from his seat on the bed and stepped towards Kiyoomi. The latter stood his ground and glared down at the blonde, arms crossed over his chest. Atsumu tilted his head, those pretty eyes staring right into Kiyoomi's soul. Kiyoomi broke after thirty seconds.
He stepped past Atsumu and took a seat on the edge of the bed. Atsumu turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Why does it matter?" Atsumu asked, breaking the tense silence.
Kiyoomi's eyes moved to study the medical books on the shelves of Atsumu's room, breaking eye contact.
"Wouldn't you get in trouble for sleeping with me?" He asked quietly.
Unexpectedly, Atsumu laughed, "Why? 'Cause yer an ex-Adler or 'cause we're on the same team now?"
Kiyoomi turned back to glare at him again and Atsumu knew he hit the nail right on the head. Atsumu took a step forward and settled himself on Kiyoomi's lap, straddling him. Despite his words, Kiyoomi's arms circled around Atsumu's lower back.
Atsumu smirked down at Kiyoomi, his arms locking around Kiyoomi's neck, "First of all, Meian-san considers y'all Jackals an', second of all, he doesn't care 'bout relationships – or whatever the hell this is – within the team."
"'Whatever the hell this is', huh?" Kiyoomi echoed with a slight smirk.
Atsumu squeaked as Kiyoomi pinched his side, "We've been tryna sorta kill each other for years," he shrugged, "Now, we're like friends with benefits or somethin'."
Kiyoomi snorted, "Well, I think I can say for certain that Meian-san definitely did not send us away so that we could have sex for the third time today."
Atsumu narrowed his eyes, "Yer the one that dragged me here."
Kiyoomi matched his gaze, "Yes. To talk," he clarified, "You know, get answers to some questions and plan our mission properly? You're the one who climbed onto my lap," he grinned, knowing that he'd won their little game this time.
"Pretty words for someone who needs my presence to stay sane," Atsumu shot back and Kiyoomi cursed the gods again.
Nevermind. That point goes to Atsumu. That's unfortunate.
"I hate you so much," Kiyoomi muttered, but his angry smile told Atsumu otherwise.
Atsumu chuckled, "The feelin's mutual, Omi-kun."
Kiyoomi took a moment to take in the sly smirk paired with sweet honeyed eyes that gazed down at him. The scar around Atsumu's eye told stories of all the hardships he endured and the immense strength that he had.
Atsumu was strong, beautiful, intelligent, powerful... He could calm down the most primal and instinctual part of Kiyoomi – his inversions – without breaking a sweat. Kiyoomi was almost convinced that Atsumu was a god, but that was too unbelievable because, if the gods existed, they had left humans to fend for themselves a long time ago. Instead Kiyoomi deemed him as a god-like being – a god-like being, lounging in Kiyoomi's lap like he owned it. Maybe he did, considering that Atsumu seemed to be the only thing that could calm Kiyoomi's inversions.
Kiyoomi's thoughts were broken as Atsumu easily slid off from his lap, leaving it cold – how ironic that Kiyoomi was the one who told him to get off but was already missing his presence.
Atsumu plopped down onto the bed next to Kiyoomi and shifted to face him, sitting cross-legged, "So, Meian-San gave us the gist of it, but we hafta plan the raid ourselves..." He sighed.
Kiyoomi nodded, and scratched the back of his head, "I still find it insane that Wakatoshi and Tobio were able to share so much information with the Jackals without being caught. I always found it strange that you guys found Adlers properties that I didn't even know existed."
Atsumu shrugged, "It was a high-stakes game an' a gamble for both us an' 'em but, in the end, it all worked out."
Kiyoomi huffed a short laugh, "I'm glad it did. I would have hated to kill you before getting to know you properly."
Atsumu snorted, "As if ya could kill me with those shitty power dampeners of yers," he teased.
Kiyoomi scoffed, "Not my fault I was practically forced," he countered.
Atsumu was quiet for a moment, "Okay, wait. The mission can wait for a bit. How does someone with yer abilities get roped up into some shit that they can't escape?" He questioned.
Kiyoomi shrugged and rubbed the back of his neck, "You already know this but I joined the Adlers three years ago. I'm one of the second generation metas so I was born with my abilities. Before I joined the Adlers, I was really careful about using my powers. I could barely control my inversions so I was a major loner and adrenaline junkie so I had no friends aside from Motoya. My family basically disowned me after an accident with my inversions that deatomized my parents," Kiyoomi paused for a moment to take a breath before continuing, "The incident was probably how the Adlers found me since it was on the news."
Atsumu hummed, "I actually remember that headline," he muttered but quieted down for Kiyoomi to continue.
Kiyoomi nodded, "They offered me the use of those power dampeners in exchange for working with them, which included somewhere to live and a salary. They told me that the power dampeners would channel my power so I could use it without the risk of inverting. I was sent out to do a lot of their dirty work, as you know."
Atsumu nodded and Kiyoomi continued, "They started me off with simple enough tasks, but eventually, I was told about my first mission, and I... I refused to do it. What they wanted me to do was...horrible, and I couldn't do it. That's when I realized that the Adlers had a lot of dark things going on, and I told them I wanted to leave. They refused, so I threatened to abandon the power dampeners and send their entire operation into oblivion."
Atsumu whistled, "That's one hell of a threat, Omi," he commented.
Kiyoomi nodded, "Yeah, and I would have done it too if they hadn't told me that they had buildings and operations all across the city...and, since I didn't know where they were, I was powerless to destroy them. They said that they had Motoya, and that if I took out headquarters, they wouldn't hesitate to kill him," Kiyoomi sighed, "Motoya isn't even a meta. He's innocent in this, but his connection to me had him in danger for three years. They held Motoya's safety over my head for everything. I was not allowed to part with my power dampeners because of the little stunt I pulled threatening them. They got a little bit more lenient when I learned to control my inversions a little bit more, but other than that... I was a weaponized puppet on a fucking string to them."
