Chapter 13

Ivy was walking towards the ministry after work. She had gotten a letter from Theseus telling her to come as soon as she could, which had been after work. 

Ivy had no idea why she would be there, maybe Theseus wanted to question her about when Grindelwald kidnapped her. The letter hadn't been particularily clear about that part.

Ivy arrived at the red telephone and dialled the number. After giving some information, the telephone started moving downwards and Ivy looked around.

When it stopped, Ivy opened the door and walked out. A witch took her wand and told her to come and pick it up when leaving and Ivy just nodded, reluctantly handing the witch her wand. 

Ivy slowly made her way through the crowd, looking for somebody she knew to show her the way. I hope I don't get lost. Ivy thought.

Suddenly, a familiar face came through the crowd, and Ivy immedietly recognized it as Daisy.

"Hi!" she heard Daisy say.

Ivy mumbled a hi back.

"You looking for your brother?" Daisy asked.

"Yeah." Ivy responded.

The two girls made their way to the elevator and Daisy pushed the right button. Soon, the doors opened and they stepped out.

"You don't work here Lovegood." a tall man said.

"I'm just helping Scamander Shacklebolt, I'll leave after that." Daisy responded sternly.

"Scamander works here Lovegood."

Daisy rolled her eyes.

"I mean Ivory. The healer. Head's sister. She doesn't work here. Surely you should know that Shacklebolt." Daisy said, now irritated. 

She knew how much Ivy hated how everyone knew about her brothers and never thought about her. 

Shacklebolt nodded and walked towards the elevator, and the doors closed behind him.

"Sorry 'bout Shacklebolt, he's an idiot." Daisy said.

Ivy laughed beside and they fell into a comfortable silence.

The girls continued to walk down a long hallway before Daisy came to a stop before a door with the words: Scamander, head of auror department on it.

"Good luck." Daisy said before walking the direction they had come from.

Ivy took a deep breath and knocked three times on the door. She heard a muffled "come in." and opened the door.

Theseus sat in a chair behind a desk, stacks of paper on top, files laying spread out everywhere.

"Don't mind the mess." he said without looking up from one of the many files on his desk.

When Ivy didn't respond he finally looked up and Ivy thought she could see what looked like fear on his face. But it was gone as quickly as it had come, leaving Ivy thinking she had imagined it.

"You wanted to see me?" she said.

Theseus nodded.

"I-I have some bad n-news." he said.

Ivy had never heard Theseus stutter before, this truly was some bad news.

"What?" Ivy asked sternly.

Theseus took a deep breath.

"Newt's gone missing."

The second those words registered in Ivy's head, the world started spinning. Newt's gone. Newt's gone. Newt's gone. I won't see him again. Those were the only thoughts Ivy could make out in her head.

She quickly sat down in one of the chairs in Theseus's office and put her head in her hands. Grindelwald had gotten what he wanted. Newt. Newt was going to die and there was absolutely nothing Ivy could do about it. 

Ivy could feel Theseus's hand on her shoulder but didn't look up. She was crying now, tears streaming down her cheeks and into her hands. She couldn't breath. 

"Ivy?" Theseus asked.

No answer.

"Ivy." he said, louder this time.

When Ivy finally looked up, Theseus breathed out a sigh in relief. But that relief was short-lived.

"Newt's going to die." Ivy said.

"Don't say that! We're going to find him! We found you right?" Theseus responded.

We have to find him. Theseus thought, although he didn't say it out loud. He didn't want Ivy to worry even more.

If Ivy gave up, he wasn't going to. At least one of them had to stay strong.

Ivy didn't say anything and for a while the siblings just sat there, Ivy crying and Theseus holding her close, not wanting to ever let go.

They have to find Newt, they have to. Ivy thought. What would her life be like without Newt? 

They have to find him. They have to. They have to...

I was able to update today after all and there might even be another chapter today if I have time!

Sorry that the chapter was so sad, for some reason I like writing sad chapters. Is that weird?
