In the shadows

Chapter 16

Grindelwald. What was he doing here? Actually, the answer was quite obvious. Newt. He was here for Newt.

Ivy saw Theseus quickly pulling out his wand, so did the other aurors. She quickly did the same and went to stand beside her brother.

"Well, well, who do we have here?"Grindelwald says in a mocking tone.

"I was hoping you would come, follow me, I will show you to your dear brother Newt." he continues.

Ivy glances at Theseus and he nods. 

"Black, Moon and Shacklebolt, I want you to stay here." Theseus says.

The three aurors that are spoken to nod and position themselves near the door.

The rest follow Ivy and Theseus, who are following after Grindelwald. This was their chance to find Newt. He had to be here. Why else would there be a note with the words "Malfoy manor" on it? And why would it be in Newts handwriting if it wasn't were he was being held?

Grindelwald walked to a door that, by the looks of it, lead to the basement. He opened it with his wand and motioned for the aurors to enter. 

Theseus looked unsure, but after a few seconds he decided it must be the best idea and walked in. Ivy followed shortly after. The rest of the aurors also looked hesitant but they obeyed orders and walk in anyway.

Suddenly, everyones wands fly out of their hands. Grindelwald catched them and closed the door with his wand, undoubtfully locking them in. Ivy tried opening it, to no avail. Which wasn't a surprise really, but it was worth a shot.

Theseus looks at Ivy and she nods. They were locked in, might as well see if Newt's here. They walk further into the basement, neither daring to make a sound. Suddenly, one of the aurors walking in front trips on something. At first it just looks like a pile of clothes, but then Ivy realised. 

She gasped and runs forward.

It's Newt.

Ivy's running towards whatever Chang tripped on.

"Ivy!" Theseus called after her and runs behind.

Theseus sees Ivy kneeling beside the pile that looks like clothes. But then, he too realises.

"Merlins beard." he gaspes. 

"It's Newt!"

Ivy checks the pulse. Steady. 

At least he isn't dead, she thinks.

Yet.

Pushing away the negative thoughts and questions, Ivy quickly takes off her jacket and wrappes it around Newt. At the touch Newt stirres and looks up at Ivy.

"Ivy!" he exclaimes.

"What are you doing here?"

"Rescuing you silly." Ivy replies with a smile.

"No!" Newt almost screams.

"It's a trap, go! Go! Leave me!" he gasps.

"Shhhhhhhhh..." Ivy soothes.

Just then, Theseus comes up to them.

"Merlins beard Newt, are you okay?!" he exclaimes, oblivious of what Newt just said.

Ivy turned around and faced Theseus.

"We need to get out of here." she says, a serious look on her face.

"Now."

Sorry, it's a bit short, only a little more than 500 words, AND it's a cliffhanger, but I will update it really soon (probably later today or latest tomorrow). Hopefully that chapter will be longer. 

Also sorry for the grammar. I couldn't choose to write it in present or past tense, so this chapter ended up being a mix of both. Since this book had mostly been in past tense, I tried to write it that way but it ended up being weird so I kind of changed it. Oh well, hope it's okay.
