"Y/n?" A voice asks, the Italian lilt breaking me from my cries. I wipe the snot and salted tears from my face, looking behind me at Enzo who's standing there awkwardly. "How long have you been standing there?" I ask, my voice hoarse and dry. "Longer than you'd like." He replies, movies over to me and sitting down cross-legged beside me.

"We heard shouting... are you okay?" He asks, resting a supportive hand on my leg. "Not really, I didn't realise anyone could hear."

"Yeah, the homestead walls aren't exactly soundproof."

"Good to know."

"What happened?" He questions, his brows furrowing with sympathy. "Gally... we got in a fight and he, uhm, he called me a slut."

"What?!" He yells, before falling speechless with his mouth wide open. For some reason, Enzo had always been a little bit protective of me, the same way I am to Chuck, even though I was the one looking after him when he came up in the box, scared shitless.

I don't reply, guessing that his 'what' didn't actually require an answer. He heard me, plain and simple. "Why the hell did he do that?"

"Uhm... well Thomas, he kissed me. I didn't kiss back or anything, but it really sent Gally off. You know how much he hates him."

"Yeah... Oh y/n I'm so sorry, that's awful." He says, pulling me into probably the biggest hug I've ever been given and offering me a tentative smile. "It's alright, nothing you can do about it." I reply with a weak laugh. "So... what are you going to do?" He asks, and I tilt my head, unsure of what he means. "Like, are you going to break up with him? Most of the others who heard the shouting think you are, or already have, so they'll probably make a few passes on you." I groan loudly. Even though that's definitely something they'd all do, you'd think they'd have the decency to wait until I was over my 'breakup'.

"I don't know. I still can't really believe it happened... it's still processing."

"That's fair... wait, did you say Thomas kissed you?" He asks, and I swear I can hear a little bit of relief in his voice. "Erm, yeah."

"I know this is going to sound awful and selfish and unsympathetic but... is it bad that sort of makes me happy?"

"Enzo!" I squeal, slapping him on the arm softly. "I mean for both of us! This means he obviously isn't into Newt, and for you, if Gally keeps being a useless shank, you have another option!" I can't help but laugh at his words, especially the fact he's using Glader slang- I thought I would've ended that trend. I don't think I would ever be into Thomas, he asks too many questions, but at least my hellhole of a day can bring Lorenzo some closure.

"Speaking of Newt... has he apologised yet?" He asks, tainting the air with awkwardness. "No... but I don't think he really needs to; I said some pretty shitty stuff as well. I'm sorry for that by the way, it wasn't my place to bring up his 'obsession' with Thomas." I say, using air quotes.

"That's alright, I'm glad you did. He talked to me about it and reassured me that nothing's going on."

With nothing left to say, we both just sit there, contemplating our issues and staring as the glint on the water changes from sunlight to moonlight. After a while his stomach is audibly growling, and it gets quite disruptive.

"Enzo, you should eat."

"So should you."

"I'm not hungry."

He spins his head between me and the deadheads, obviously trying to decide whether he would rather comfort me or eat. I choose for him by pushing him over until he finally stands up and walks off, giving me one last hug, and leaving me alone.
