Fire on Fire

It started this way.

An average of 8 text messages a day, a few pictures. One call every night.

Then, it slowed down to 5 text messages a day. No pictures. One call every other day.

Then, the good morning and good night texts disappeared. They managed to call twice a week.

Then,

There seemed to be nothing to say.

Engfa threw her phone onto the table and pulled her hair.

“Fuck.” She cursed aloud as she replayed the videos in her head. What else other than fan edit videos of Than and Charlotte? Just Charlotte laughing away at whatever stupid jokes he said that Engfa couldn't care less, just him casually holding Charlotte's arms quickly when she stumbled on the hike.

Just them laughing and screaming as they ran in the rain.

The thunder struck outside, but it was nothing in comparison to the storm brewing in her heart. The video reminded of the time Englot had their first photoshoot, how Char had thrown away her umbrella in abandon to run to her when she was afraid. How warm and safe she had felt in Charlotte's arms, how they had warmed up in the dressing room afterwards. That seemed so long ago.

They were now 7 weeks into their separation and things just seemed to go downhills.

The thing was, they've been through this before. This was not their first rodeo, being hot and cold, that is.

They were great when things were good, but they were absolutely wrecked when things were bad.

But shouldn't this time be different? Haven't they promised to take care of each other's hearts?

A knock sounded hesitant at her door, she snapped.

“Come in.”

P’Sun walked in, feeling like he was walking on eggshells. Engfa's emotions had been all over the place, most of the time she seemed to be wearing a perfect mask that made her seem like everything was fine, but when she took the mask away she was an absolute mess.

“Engfa, you have to be at the hall for the launch soon. You can't hide here forever.”

Engfa massaged her head and popped a migraine pill, “I know, I'll be there.”

Frankly, she didn't want to. All the reporters would ask was Englot this, Englot that. She wanted to snarl like a defensive tiger caged and asked everyone to mind their own business.

She gulped down an entire bottle of mineral water and walked out with her chin held high. P’Sun was waiting for her outside, a quiet pillar of support as always.

“You're okay?” He asked quietly.

“Peachy.” She said shortly with a forced smile. “Let's go.”

“P’Fa, how are you and Charlotte?”

“We miss Englot!”

“There are no moments anymore, we're so sad!”

“Do you and P’Char talk often?”

“Are you two fighting?”

“What do you think of P’Than and Charlotte's ship?”

Immediately, the reporters swarmed all around her as she made her entrance into the hall. It did not matter what event was going on, as long as she was present she would be bombasted with fans and reporters alike.

She put on her usual smile, “We're doing fine guys. Don't overthink too much about our relationship.”

“Do you two talk everyday?”
