Late in the afternoon, the doctor came to check on her girlfriend again and was pleased to inform she could be released but needed to be on house rest.
While Charlotte was talking to her co-stars who came to visit her, Engfa excused herself and walked to the reception. She signed the hospital discharge form and paid off the bills decisively.
She felt a few familiar clicks and flashes behind her and turned around. There were a few reporters and a small crowd waiting outside the hospital door, a few security guards preventing them from entering.
Thankfully, they were soon reprimanded by the Head Nurse as one is not allowed to take pictures or videos at a hospital premise.
Engfa shook her head and ignored them, today and for the next few days she just wanted to be alone with her girlfriend.
She entered the room and walked to P’Sun by the window.
“We'll have to take the back doors.” She said lowly as they watched the situation from the glass plane.
“Don't worry, I'll take the car to you two.” He nodded.
Charlotte's giggle brought her attention back, she leaned on the window and watched her girlfriend laugh at Violette's jokes. A small smile hung on her lips as she gazed, Charlotte was still so beautiful even with her thin figure hidden under the loose gown. She had to feed her well and fatten her up, Engfa decided to herself with an indulgent smile.
Charlotte's eyes coincidentally met hers and both their smiles widened automatically,
“Fa, come here.” Char called softly with her hand out, Engfa walked to her side and held her hand. “Nuu, repeat the joke again!”
Violette became shy when Engfa came closer, she squealed in embarrassment, “Nooo, I'm not going to. It's so stupid!”
Engfa grinned at her reaction though she was not surprised, many younger women in their early twenties were often shy in her presence. “I'm sure it's funny if it can make Char laugh like this.”
“Yeah, it's been a while since we heard her laugh.” P’Than suddenly spoke up where he had been listening silently from the side. His voice was slightly sarcastic and hidden with some accusation.
The mood was suddenly down, Charlotte's and Violette's smiles froze on their faces. Engfa raised an eyebrow at his words but said nothing, though her eyes immediately became hard.
“I have just been very tired, P’Than. These two months have been hard on all of us.” Charlotte was quick to neutralize the tense atmosphere, she squeezed Engfa's hands.
“I've signed your discharge forms, Char. Should we go soon?” Engfa ignored him entirely and simply spoke to Charlotte. P’than's jaw ticked at her lack of reaction to him, somehow her dismissal felt even more disrespectful.
“Oh, so soon? I haven't paid the bills yet.” Charlotte replied, grateful Engfa did not take P’than's bait and start an unnecessary fight.
“I've paid it off, bee. Don't worry about it.” Engfa smiled, her eyes full of Char.
“Huh? You didn't have to, Fa! I can pay it off myself!” Charlotte exclaimed, she was also a little embarrassed in front of her co-stars. She didn't want to be seen as dependent on Engfa or something…
“I know you can, but I want to.” Engfa reassured her with an easy smile, her short sentence was so simple but it erased Charlotte's insecurity immediately.
“Okay, thank you teerak.” Charlotte accepted it bashfully, either way she was not about to argue in front of other people.
“P’Fa is such a goal, I want to have what you two have.” Violette sighed dreamily, “when will my prince charming come?” She said dramatically and made the girls laugh.
