"I'm glad we could meet. I know tempers ran hot today and I wanted to assure you how much I value the bond between our houses Rhaenys is my favorite cousin after all" Viserys told him chuckling at the end of his sentence

"I wish to apologize for the tenor at the small council today your grace it was not my intake to make offence" Corlys admitted

"your fleet is one of the realm's most important assets as king it is my obligation to avoid war until such time it is unavoidable" Viserys said

"none among us desire open war might I speak plainly your grace?" Corlys asked

"I always welcome the unfettered thoughts of my council" Viserys told gesturing or him to continue

"I fear the eyes of our enemies are presently fixed on the red keep, the queen has passed a girl has been named heir to the Iron Throne the first in it's history, the kings brother so disinherited has claimed the Targaryen seat on dragon stone without challenge and now a foreign power has established a colony in our most critical shipping lane" Corlys said

"you paint such an aspirant portrait of my reign Lord Corlys" said Viserys barley keeping his bitterness out of his tone "it is a honest one cousin at the moment the crown is perceived as being vulnerable" Corlys told him

"a blind incursion in the step stones is the only way to demonstrate we are not?" Viserys countered

"to elude a storm you can either sail into it or around it but you must never await its coming"

"so you have a specific course if action to purpose my lord?" Viserys questioned the sea snake

"join our families wed our daughter Laena" Corlys said as Viserys made a face "unite the two greatest surviving Valyrian houses with the Targaryen dragons and the Velaryon fleet in blood, you can show the realm that the crowns strongest days are ahead not behind" Corlys finished and Viserys shook his head

"I have not thought much about marriage after my late wife passed" Viserys admitted

"the realm expects you to take a new wife soon or late, Your Grace to strengthen your line and produce heirs, you could not ask for a stronger match than laena"? Corlys reminded him

Viserys fought the urge to roll his eyes and shout at the man Infront of him so he cleared his throat before standing up "thank you my lord I will think about your offer but I must go now good day" he said leaving the sea snake thinking his daughter will be the next queen of the even kingdoms.

"you cannot worry for the matters of lords and kings Rhaenyra" Alicent told her "what if your father was to remarry he seemed quite content with Anna" she added quietly

"if my father was to remarry she would be the best choice my father smiles again and is happy around her she has always been like a second mother more than an older sister to me and you as well she supports me as well as my claim but I do fear of being replaced" Rhaenyra admitted

your father loves he chose you as his heir" Alicent assured her friend

"he didnt chooses me he spurns daemon" Rhaenyra corrected her "and yet you will continue to be his heir and you will prove to him the realm the lords in the council that you are meant to sit on the throne as the first ever queen in their own right" Alicent reassured her grabbing her hands looking in her eyes making them both feel something like butterflies in their stomachs making them let go of each other quickly as their cheeks burned a bright red

"kneel with me I find that this is a way to be with my mother here in the quite of the Sept I feel close to her Anna showed me when we first came to Kings Landing and I missed our mother" Alicent said kneeling down grabbing two candles setting one in front of her and the other next to her

"I know it sound foolish" Alicent said trailing off looking down embarrassed

"I don't think it is foolish" Rhaenyra assured her as she knelt down "i don't" she repeated grabbing her hand

"good because I thought you may try if not for me but for her your mother" Alicent said

"what do I say?" Rhaenyra asked

"whatever you wish its only for you and the gods to know so that it can be anything you wish" Alicent told her before they sat in silence for a minute

"I just want him to see me as more than his little girl" she said breaking down crying making alicent hug her closely
