Christian hadn't left my room since he came in the first time. Zeke brought him a duffel bag full of clothes. Thankfully, they were Christian's own clothes.
I was slowly getting better. Along with needing my chest to heal, I also needed my shoulder to improve enough for me to get out of the cast so I could leave. The longer it took, the more restless I got. I wasn't sure how Christian put up with me and my bitchiness.
I was picking through some strawberry Jell-O when the door opened and Harmony stuck her head in.
"Is it safe to come in?"
Christian smiled. I suspected he told Zeke and Harmony about my attitude. "Yeah, you can come in."
She stepped into the room and Zeke followed. For the first time, I saw him in clothes that looked more normal than his usual frat guy outfits. He was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt with sweatpants. A lanyard stuck out of his pants pocket. He didn't look like he was ready to work which was unusual for him. For someone so... awful, he was always willing to work whenever it was required of him. They walked over to the left side of the bed and Zeke pulled out the only extra chair for Harmony to sit in.
"I'm glad to see you looking more like yourself," She said to me.
"Me too. It was pretty touch-and-go at first."
"You're welcome for that," Zeke said proudly.
I rolled my eyes.
Christian narrowed his eyes at Zeke. "That's never happening again."
"You have to admit you would do the same for me. I wouldn't expect anything less if the tables were turned."
Christian sighed. "You're right."
I squeezed his hand. He had nothing to worry about. Christian was the only man I thought about. He was the only man I wanted in that way.
Zeke leaned on the chair Harmony sat in. "So... I have a small favor to ask. I'm gonna need some time off. Harmony's shop was pretty damaged in the fire. We're not even sure if we can reopen in the same building. We have to figure some things out so we can get the business up and running by the summer."
"Don't worry about it. Take all the time you need."
"I hate to ask after everything that's happened. I know now isn't a good time to not have a Beta."
Christian shook his head. "We'll be fine. We have a very reliable Luna who can help out now."
Zeke raised his eyebrows at me. "You better not be gunning for my job."
"Please. That's a step down for me."
Christian laughed.
"Good luck with her. She's feisty," Zeke said to Christian.
"I like feisty. Plus, she actually likes me so I know she'll be nice to me. I'm just glad to have someone cute to work with for once."
Zeke gasped. "I'm offended. I work hard to look good. It doesn't happen naturally."
"Clearly," I mumbled.
Harmony patted Zeke's hand and got to her feet. "Come on, Zeke. Blair needs some rest. She's delirious."
I laughed. Never did I think I would be lucky enough to have friends who cared about me and checked on me when I needed it. Twisp wasn't as bad as I first made it out to be.
Harmony leaned against the side of the bed. "I'm glad you're okay, Blair. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. You've helped me in more ways than I can count."
