The conversation with Stella brought the whole thing into a new light for Kana.
On the days that she went back to the TCC and fully dedicated herself to the now-usual routine of practice, it was hard to ignore him in any way.
From the little glares she got when Matt was around to the way he smiled and brightened up when she arrived at the venue, there was clearly something there for him too. Yuzuru didn't act that way with anyone else but at the same time, she felt that he seemed almost afraid to approach her at certain times.
As usual, the questions only seemed to rise with every little interaction they had.
There was also the ultimate detail of how differently he behaved when they were effectively alone.
The little touches, the hugs, the laughter, and the giggles that always filled the ice were completely undeniable in her eyes. That Yuzuru she saw during those moments was one that she gradually understood to love.
He was so much more relaxed and willing to talk that he almost felt like a completely different person.
Obviously, she also couldn't deny that every time she felt his touch on her skin, her whole body seemed to light into flames.
None of it improved as time went by and their time alone at the rink slowly grew. Now it seemed like watching him doing the most random of things could be attractive and it didn't help that he enjoyed wearing the tightest of clothes to every session.
Yuzuru was temptation on blades every single time he stepped on the ice and she was gradually falling for it. Just a few weeks of that routine and she was so gone that the will to kiss him senseless didn't seem as crazy as it once had.
All of her doubts about who he was were slowly and gradually disappearing as she had the chance to know the silly man better and better with each day that passed.
The truth was that he wasn't any better.
Kana couldn't possibly know exactly what or how he felt but it was more than clear that he loved her attention and basked on it every time she provided it.
Their time on the ice together was amazing, full of a joy that she thought to be impossible to have.
In a way, all of it was both a combination of her skating gradually improving and his presence but you couldn't ignore how much influence he had on the whole process.
When they were alone, Yuzuru would often come to her, and fix her tech with little details that made a world of difference, all the while leaving a burning trace in his touch. She loved every single moment of those interactions and felt them getting closer with each day that passed.
It was so easy to get used to it all, his unwavering attention, the sweetness in their interactions, the loving way in which he helped her deal with every challenge that so easily showed up in their wake.
Yuzuru was undoubtedly making her life better and from the moment Kana was able to admit it to herself and even share it with Stella, it was easy to just let go and enjoy it all as it was without any overthinking in the process.
Ignoring who the man really was in their home country was easier than she could have ever expected and in a way, it almost felt like he was any normal guy that she could have met in Canada. Yuzuru wasn't known enough in the North American country to make a mess in his wake so it was very easy to pretend like he wasn't hyper-famous in another place.
And well, he did look like any ordinary guy when you ignored his crazy physique and looks. In her eyes, he still looked like a model whenever he turned his focused mood on, irresistible and way too sexy to ignore. Just thinking that he gave her his attention was enough to make her interested.
Even so, and as fate would give it, all of it only lasted a few weeks.
In a way, Kana could have never predicted how things would change so quickly. It was inevitable that Yuzuru got more and more focused on his skating as the season quickly approached but that wasn't even the reason that led to their distance once again.
What was it, you might ask?
Well, the arrival of a certain Russian skater to Canada changed a lot of things but at the same time, it was also quite obvious that Kana's reaction was a bit over the top.
Not that anyone would blame her when it came to a man like this but the truth was that when Zhenya arrived, Kana felt the jealousy creeping almost right away.
The worst of it all was that she couldn't even blame him for anything.
Yuzuru, in all of his cute and attractive glory, was completely immune to the whole situation as he became a victim of the circumstances.
From the very moment that the Russian arrived, the whispers that echoed between the skaters should have been enough to make Kana wary of what was going on but right at the same time, it was only when she saw the separation in the other woman's interactions with Yuzu that she fully understood the depth of her feelings.
Because why would this crazy famous dude even look her way when this pretty girl was constantly making eyes at him?
For all that it was worth, Kana's doubts crept to the surface all over again and the distance seemed completely unavoidable.
Whatever hopes she might have had seemed gone in the blink of an eye. It all seemed worthless.
