"Ginny?" Steve asked, walking into her bedroom where she was lying on her bed with her legs kicking as she read a book. She was wearing a big yellow sweater and gray plaid pants along with little socks with cats and glasses all over them.
"What's up?" She asked while putting her book down and bookmarked its page.
"What are you reading?"
"The Secret History, but you're stalling. What do you need?"
"I... wanted to ask if you have anything planned for Dinner, because I need to talk to you and it only seems right to do it over dinner."
"Oh, Alright. What time should I be ready?"
"I'll get you at 6:00. I want to take you to that ice cream place I found the other week. I think you'll like it. So dress casually." Steve said, walking out of the room.
"Oh...okay" Ginny muttered to nobody as Steve shut the door
Ginny was now wearing a colorful striped long-sleeved shirt with a black and white t-shirt with a wave on top, baggy jeans, and a black belt. She had little space buns in her hair keeping her bangs out of her face.
"Ginny?" Steve asked, walking in holding a bouquet of sunflowers and lavender. "Are you ready?" He smiled at her, a sweet smile that would make most women's hearts flutter.
Not Ginny's,
"Yeah, I'm ready." She smiled and stood up, "Did you get flowers for me? You didn't have to," She gently took them from him and rested them in a glass half filled with water on her Piano,
"Why... Do you have a glass of water already?" Steve asked, wondering if life was just a setup and he was the main character. That would surely explain some things about his life.
"I had flowers earlier, I had to get rid of them though, they were dying."
"Of course." Steve nodded slightly thinking that she was probably joking or that Natasha or Clint told Ginny that he was getting her flowers. "Sure." He rolled his eyes "Let's go then"
Stevie held out a hand and she took it gently. Steve gave Ginny's hand a light squeeze and smiled down at her.
"It's still so weird that you're taller than me now." She remarked remembering all the times she would have to look down at him and try to convince him he was going to get taller despite having hit puberty as much as he would.
"I cherish those days," Steve quipped sarcastically and rolled his eyes, making her laugh as he led her to his car.
When they pulled up to the restaurant Steve rushed to help her out of his car and walked them into the restaurant where he sat them in a booth and ordered milkshakes.
"What did you need to talk to me about? And why was it so important that it waited until milkshakes for dinner? This isn't very healthy, you know."
"I know, but you like it. I can tell" Steve said making her laugh "Plus I got french fries"
"Oh wow, Steve, I'm sorry. This is such a nutritious dinner." Ginny teased, he laughed and looked down.
"But I feel like I need to be fully honest with you Virginia... I loved you, Virginia. I have since we were kids-"
"Oh... Steve... don't say this, please-"
"Let me finish, okay?" She nodded "I loved you—past tense. I still love you, I... I'm just not sure that it's romantic anymore. I'm sorry but I felt like I had to tell you I felt like I was lying to my best friend."
"Oh, Steve. You weren't lying. I have one question for you though, how do you know that you don't love me?"
"Alright, that's the other reason I took you here... I wanted your permission to ask out your best friend."
"My best friend? Are you talking about Jamie? Steve, are you trying to tell me you're gay? Also, I don't think we are best friends anymore. You don't have to ask me permission, it's not 1915 doofus.""Gay? No - I mean... no. Anyway, I'm talking about your other best friend. Natasha, I want to ask her out and I need help figuring out how too."
"Natasha?" Virginia started laughing, every thought made her laugh even harder "You're worried about asking her out? Are men really this blind? She is head over heels in love with you." Virginia snorted
"Well, can you help me figure out how to ask her out? Please Ginny" He begged pouting playfully,
"How could I say no to that?" She asked teasingly, taking a sip of her milkshake and smiling as she started to help him plan.
When the two were getting back it was almost 1:00 AM and the two of them were a laughing mess. Steve's hair was even a bit messy (A rare sighting) and Ginny was holding her shoes in her hands as she walked around barefoot.
The two of them practically stumbled into the living area drunkenly laughing uncontrollably. The room was empty except for Bucky sitting on the couch as he scrolled through TV channels trying to find something somewhat interesting.
Finally, he landed on Hairspray and gave up just as his best friend and former best friend walked in. When Virginia noticed him she blushed a bit (But it might have just been the lighting) and muttered something along the lines of "I'm going to bed, goodnight." before she walked to the elevator.
"Where were you?" Bucky asked Steve as he sat down on the couch next to Bucky,
"I took Ginny out to get ice cream for dinner," He said and Bucky clenched his jaw.
"Was it a date?"
"No! I was asking her for help on planning a date though." Bucky relaxed a bit but still seemed skeptical.
"With who?"
"Natasha." Steve looked at his friends and a realization dawned on him. "You still love Ginny!!" He yelled out of excitement
"SHHH!!! Don't say it so loudly!" Bucky yelled covering Steve's mouth,
"Holy shit! I see what Ginny means, men are blind! But so are women." He muttered to his friend,
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Bucky asked
"Language"
"Hell isn't even a bad word."
