BUCKY's POV

"What the hell?!" Virginia yelled. I sighed and rubbed my face. I just saved both of our asses and now she was mad! At me! "Why did you do that?!" She hissed

"You're welcome," I said, looking around the empty room.

"No! Why did you do that?! You jeopardize this whole mission!" She yelled

"How? Virginia. That doesn't even make sense." I rolled my eyes and threw my hands up in frustration. "I saved you!!"
"I didn't need saving! Why do you even care? We could have taken them and then there would have been fewer agents in the world. And you're acting like you care! Why are you acting like you care?"

This smart, wonderful woman was driving a spike down my spine. What's wrong with her? Why is she so mad about this? I do care! Not that she knows it. Clearly.

"I care because you are a lovely person and sticking around to fight has the same if not worse odds of you or me getting hurt or killed so I am sorry for picking the side of life!" If that wasn't enough, of course, I had to go over the top"And I care because I love you too!!"

"Huh?!" Virginia said speechlessly. Her jaw was now wide along with her eyes that watched in clear shock.

"I love you," I said again, anger and frustration retreating from my face and expression. My shoulders relaxed a bit.

"What?" This time I knew she did understand. What happened next was more natural than an agreed topic.

We kissed.

I don't mean for it to sound so casual, because it sure as hell was not. It was heavenly, it wasn't like any other kiss. When we broke apart, our foreheads stayed resting on each other.

Virginia was smiling widely, showing all her teeth. She was beautiful. She is beautiful. But like in every good book, the moment was cut off.

"Uh, guys... I need some help, seven agents are surrounding me," Clint popped in over coms which I honestly had forgotten about. The agents must have been the ones I ran from with Ginny, this thought made me grimace.

"I guess I'll go and help him," Virginia sighed tiredly.

She didn't want to, but before I could offer she turned around and made to leave but I grabbed her wrists, careful to not hurt her.

"Be safe, Doll," Doll? Doll? Did I just call her her Doll? What am I 100 years old? Actually, yes. Yes, I am.

"You too," she whispered. And turned to leave again but as she pushed open the door, I could see Ginny look over her shoulder. I could swear there were traces of her smile still residing on her lips.

Maybe Ginger was right. Maybe love wasn't as hard as I thought it was. Maybe love is like a swelling in the heart that makes you want to be your best self no matter what.

It does feel like a singular ray of sun shining just on you. It does hurt, but not one that you dread or one that will wake you from a nightmare. It's a pain that you crave. A pain that feels good.

I'm going to see Mother Mother and Cavetown tonight!! Also!!! They kissed!!! YAY! It only took 30 chapters... anyway for the next few chapters I am taking a break from the mission stuff and leading on their relationship. Also at this point in time I am expecting about 50 chapters.
