The day of the date was chaotic, to say the least. Virginia was stressed all day as she tried to pick an outfit, normally, she assumed that she would have asked the girls but not in this case.
For the first time ever, she was hiding the fact she was going on a date where in the past she would be so excited that she would practically be bouncing off the walls telling everyone about the guy whose characteristics always seemed to be the same. They all were strong-looking men, but according to Ginny, they were all sweet.
Steve and Bucky had gotten used to hearing about plans days or even weeks ahead of time, so when Steve went into Ginny's room and found her talking to herself while staring intensely at a bunch of clothes that were laid out on her bed, Steve was a bit hesitant to approach her.
"Ginny?" Steve asked, approaching her slowly, putting his hand out as if he was approaching a beast. Her head snapped in his direction "Do you want to train today?" He asked hesitantly,
"No, Steve, I can't right now," She said not looking at him, her voice was completely stressed and sounded rather strained,
"Okay, well, maybe later after dinner,"
"No." Ginny snapped, this was faster than normal, "No, I can't train with you today," Steve looked at the dark-haired woman with an expression that held a strong resemblance to a puppy who had just been kicked by his master,
"Okay, umm, well, maybe we can soon only if you want! Okay, see you later!" Steve nearly yelled and rushed out of the room, and Virginia sighed tiredly and sat back on her piano bench staring at the clothes on her bed.

Bucky had gotten ready for his date faster than anticipated and spent the rest of the day trying to figure out what to do to make it perfect for Ginny. He strained his memory to try and remember her favorite type of flowers and then he spent all day trying to find the flowers from said memory.
What Bucky forgot to check was the weather, and a street festival was something the weather needed to be known for, but still, at 8:58, right before Bucky went to pick up Virginia, the rain started pounding on their windows.
Bucky tapped on his table hoping the storm would clear quickly, before picking up the bouquet and going to his neighbors' room and knocking softly on her door,

After about two or three hours of not knowing what to do for an outfit or what to wear, Virginia decided on simple dark jeans and a black and gray sweater, and putting on some nice pink heels,
She put her hair into a bun the best she could, but honestly, the bottom half was falling out of the hair tie as she put on the fourth layer of lipstick while waiting for Bucky to come knock on her door,
Virginia had soft music playing to try and drown out her anxiety, her plan honestly didn't work, but still, she was able to get some energy out by singing, she sang and walked around her room in circles while waiting for the knock that startled her every time,
When Bucky knocked at exactly 9:00, Ginny immediately swung open the door and shut off the music that was softly filling the room. She was quite surprised to find him holding a bunch of flowers in one hand and his metal arm still in the air from having just knocked,
"Hi," Ginny said softly grinning,
"Hi," Bucky repeated in a similar tone, "I, uh, got you flowers,"
"Thank you," Virginia gently took the flowers from his grasp put them in the vase on top of her piano, and stepped back smiling, Bucky walked over to her, leaving the door open, and rested his metal hand on the small of her back,
"I don't know where to take you," Bucky admitted quietly after a moment of silence, "It's raining,"
"Well then," Virginia smiled "I guess I am the one taking you on a date since I have an idea, Jamie, would you like to go dancing?" Bucky held back a laugh at her way of speaking at that moment,
"I would love too,"
"We can take my car," Virginia took his hand and started practically dragging the super soldier to the elevator to go to the garage. The two didn't have to worry too much about anyone seeing them since everybody was still exhausted from the mission that had finished the day before. For the most part, most of them were in their rooms for the night, except for Natasha who was probably in Steve's room.
When they got downstairs to the garage, Virginia got in the driver's seat and buckled while waiting for Bucky to do the same thing. Once he did they were off driving through Manhattan and going into Brooklyn and eventually finding themselves in an old-looking neighborhood that also looked fairly filled with new stores,
When Ginny parked and said they got an amazing spot, Bucky furrowed his eyebrows. He didn't know where they were going and the idea that they might be dancing in one of these nightclubs was slightly appalling to him.
But again Virginia took his hand in silence and almost dragged him down the street until she got to a staircase that Bucky didn't even notice. There was a sign above that had an arrow pointing down that said "Sam's is downstairs,"
Again, Ginny took to dragging him downstairs and opened the wooden door for him, when Bucky went inside he was nearly overwhelmed with nostalgia. Everybody was talking loudly but still the band was louder and even though everybody in that room besides Virginia was nearly two times younger than him, they all seemed to feel welcomed and like they belonged there. There were tables all around the perimeter with waiters and waitresses walking around with food,
"Holy cow," Bucky whispered in amazement, making Ginny giggle. Bucky led them to a booth in a corner, where they sat down and watched people dance in silence for a few minutes, "Wanna dance?" Bucky asked as he watched people dance the way he was raised too,
"I was never as good as it is you are, Bucky, be prepared, but sure," Bucky took Ginny's hand and they made their way to the dance floor, an unfamiliar song came on and the two started dancing, It wasn't anything too impressive but as the minutes went by the two became less and less aware of the people surrounding them,
"I missed dancing with you, Ginger," Bucky spoke softly, letting the music nearly drown out his voice, nearly making him impossible to hear. He kept looking into Virginia's eyes through her round glasses that kept sliding down her nose and couldn't help but find her absolutely adorable. Her face hadn't changed much over the years, but anybody who used to know her would be able to tell in an instant.
"I missed it too," People had started to leave the hall and before Bucky and Ginny knew it they were the only ones left, slowly swaying back and forth in the middle of the room in silence as they just enjoyed each other's company.
