Annabeth's POV:

I stumbled through the door, drenched to the bone and shivering uncontrollably. The rain had caught me off guard, dousing me in its icy embrace as I hurried home from work. Every step felt like a battle against the biting wind and driving rain.

Percy's concerned voice broke through the haze of my discomfort as he rushed to my side, his eyes widening at the sight of me. "Annabeth, what happened?" he asked, his brow furrowed with worry.

I tried to brush off his concern with a weak smile, but a fit of coughing seized me, leaving me breathless and weak. Percy's expression tightened with worry as he guided me to the couch, urging me to sit down and rest.

"I got caught in the rain," I managed to explain hoarsely, my voice barely above a whisper. "I think I might be coming down with something."

Percy's eyes softened with concern as he fetched a warm blanket, wrapping it around my shoulders with gentle hands. "You're freezing," he murmured, his touch sending a comforting warmth through me. "Let's get you out of those wet clothes."

I nodded weakly, allowing Percy to help me out of my sodden attire. His touch was gentle and reassuring, his presence a comforting anchor in the midst of my discomfort. As he disappeared into the bedroom, I couldn't help but feel grateful for his unwavering care and concern.

When Percy returned with a fresh set of clothes, I allowed him to dress me, too exhausted to protest. He wrapped me snugly in the blanket, tucking it around me like a cocoon. The warmth enveloped me, chasing away the chill that had settled in my bones. He tucked me into bed with a tender kiss on my forehead, promising to take care of me until I felt better.

As I drifted off to sleep, the sound of Percy's steady breathing and the warmth of his presence by my side filled me with a sense of comfort and security. And in that moment, despite the rain and the chill of the night, I knew that I was exactly where I needed to be.
