As Percy stood at the sink, his hands immersed in soapy water, diligently scrubbing away at the dinner dishes, he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist from behind. Annabeth's comforting embrace enveloped him, her chin resting lightly on his shoulder as she pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.

"Hey there," Percy greeted her, a smile playing on his lips as he leaned back into her touch.

"Hey you," Annabeth replied, her voice filled with warmth as she held him close. "Whatcha doing?"

"Washing the dishes," Percy chuckled softly, nodding towards the sink filled with plates and utensils. "Someone's gotta make sure we have clean dishes for tomorrow."

Annabeth chuckled in response, her arms tightening around him as she nuzzled closer. "Well, you're doing a fantastic job," she murmured, her breath tickling his ear.

Percy felt a surge of contentment wash over him at her words, grateful for her presence beside him. Yet, as much as he enjoyed her embrace, he couldn't help but long for the simple intimacy of holding her hand, but he couldn't because his hands were busy.

And so, they stood there in the kitchen, Percy washing dishes while Annabeth held him close from behind, finding solace in the simple act of being together. The sound of running water and the clatter of dishes filled the air, but amidst it all, they cherished this moment of quiet connection, grateful for the love that bound them together.
