Cold Comfort

The chilly wind whipped through the air, sending shivers down my spine as I stepped outside, ill-prepared for the sudden drop in temperature. Annabeth, ever the practical one, stood nearby, a concerned frown on her face as she surveyed the frosty weather.

"Percy, you really should wear a jacket," she insisted, holding out a thick coat in my direction. "It's freezing out here."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her motherly concern, though I knew she only had my best interests at heart. With a playful grin, I accepted the jacket, slipping it on begrudgingly.

"Okay, mom," I teased, flashing her a cheeky grin as I adjusted the collar. "I'll bundle up like a good little boy."

Annabeth chuckled at my antics, shaking her head fondly as she watched me zip up the coat. "Just trying to keep you from catching a cold, Percy," she replied, her tone amused. "You can thank me later."

I couldn't help but laugh at her playful scolding, grateful for her caring nature even if it did sometimes make me feel like a wayward child. With Annabeth by my side, I knew I would always be looked after, even if it meant enduring a little teasing along the way.

As I reluctantly donned the jacket, I couldn't deny the warmth it provided against the biting cold. Annabeth's concern was endearing, even if it did come with a touch of playful nagging.

With a mock salute, I grinned at her. "Roger that, Captain Annabeth," I quipped, giving her a playful wink.

Annabeth shook her head, but there was warmth in her gaze as she reached out to squeeze my hand. "Just making sure you stay safe and warm, Percy," she said softly.

With a grateful smile, I leaned in to press a quick kiss to her cheek. "Thanks, Annabeth," I murmured, feeling the cold air nipping at my cheeks. "I'll admit defeat this time."
