Arohi...

"Oh God why are they calling me again and again ?", I am in the middle of a very important meeting and my family's trying to reach out to me continuously. Sneakily below the table, I drop down a text - "Meeting going on will call you back later."

The meeting is about the new deal with the Uragen Technology. A project that would involve collaborative research on AI with us. My boss is presenting at the moment and most of the management heads are present.

"I hope you all got the point and I want you all to give your 100% in this because I want this deal done. You have 1 week to complete the proposal so that we can present it in front of Mr. Singhania. So I expect everyone to get it done." said my Boss.

We four looked at each other and our faces reflected the same expression - "Seriously ?!". I mean I understand the deal's important but then that makes it challenging too and I have no idea how the hell are we going to make it in one week. But then perhaps that's the worst part of a job - you need to work your ass off.

In the next hour, we discussed and laid down a plan.

It's not that I don't like my job but it's just that it can be too tiring sometimes. After the discussion, it was almost lunch time so I came back to my working area which comprises a big hall with cubicles organized for employees to work. I have my cabin with glass walls, overlooking the area, and here's where I work. I have my separate cabin in front of this area which has glass walls and inside it has my whole working space,

I took out some files and notes from the meeting to describe to my team about the upcoming project and to delegate their respective roles.

Everyone was shocked to know about the one-week deadline. After explaining everything and giving their respective jobs I came back to my cabin for lunch and suddenly it occurred to me. I had completely forgotten to call back home in the face of the avalanche of work that had been shoved on us. I knew it was something important otherwise they wouldn't have called me that many times.

On Call

Me: Hello, papa...!!

Dad: Hello Beta... How are you?

Me: I am fine Dad. You tell me, is everything alright? How are you all doing? Is mom okay? what happened?

Dad: Yes beta we are all good and everything is fine. Mom is also doing good.

Me: Ohh.. good to know. Then why did you ring me so many times?

Dad: Oh yeah.. we wanted to talk about something very important with you and we want you to come back home ASAP.

Me: what is it Dad that you want to talk face-to-face? Tell me.

// I asked worriedly because he was sounding very tense and I wasn't getting very good vibes either.

Dad: It's related to your Marriage....

// and silence fell between us.

Marriage - I guess this is the only moment every girl like me is afraid of, fear of getting married to a stranger especially when you are not ready and, to be honest presently I am not ready at all.

Me: But Dad I am not ready for this and you know it very well. I have so many things to--

//Dad cut me off in between and said

Dad: come here first then we'll talk.

// I know it's useless to argue because he's not gonna listen

Me: okay...but I'll come next week. A very important project is going on and I can't leave it like that so I'll come next week.

I hung up the call and drew a deep breath - "Relax Arohi relax ..... everything's gonna be fine" - I muttered to myself.

I put the phone on the table and arched back on my chair. Gazing at the ceiling and then I closed my eyes with frustration. I was so tensed and frustrated already because of all these things going on and now this - Marriage.

So how was the first chapter guyssss....????

Now what's Aarohi gonna do..???
