Rudra...
I entered the meeting room and gave a brief nod to signal everyone to take their seats. As I moved toward my chair, my eyes scanned the room-and then, met hers. Aarohi.
For a split second, a surge of emotions rushed through me-shock, happiness, and something else that I couldn't quite put into words. But I quickly composed myself, forcing my features to not react much.
I couldn't afford to let my emotions show, not here, not now. With a controlled breath, I took my seat, signaling the start of the meeting.
Prateek stood up and moved to the front, launching into the presentation. He began outlining the final points of the project, his voice steady and professional.
My mind was caught in a tug-of-war, half-focused on the business at hand, and half-distracted by Aarohi's unexpected presence.
So, she decided to return to the office and didn't even tell me, I mused, a smirk tugging at the corners of my lips.
*I bet she wanted to surprise me. Well, two can play this *game.*
I stole a glance at her, unable to resist. She looked stunning, as always. The light pink suit she wore complemented her perfectly, bringing out the warmth in her complexion. Her hair cascaded in soft waves, framing her face beautifully, and her eyes-those expressive eyes-were filled with curiosity and perhaps a touch of frustration. Every time our gazes met, I could see her searching for something, trying to find what was going on in my mind.
*If she's decided to play this little game, then let's see how well she handles it.*
Throughout the entire meeting, I pretended not to notice her at all. I kept my focus on the discussion, asking questions and giving input as needed, all while keeping one eye on Aarohi. I could tell my act was getting to her; she seemed distracted, her usual sharpness dulled by the irritation I was intentionally stoking.
I couldn't deny the small thrill I got from it, watching her fidget, knowing that my this behavior is irritating her.
But beneath the teasing, there was something more. I couldn't stop myself from admiring her-how composed she looked, even when she was clearly frustrated by my lack of reaction.
It took everything in me not to break character, not to reach across the table and let her know just how glad I was to see her back.
The meeting was about to end, and Prateek summarized the final points. I could feel the tension in the room easing, but the tension between Aarohi and me only seemed to grow.
I wondered how long I could keep up this charade before she called me out on it-or before I gave in to the urge to smile, to let her know that I'd noticed her the moment she walked in.
