Rudra…

Standing in front of Aarohi’s house, I pressed the doorbell two, then three times, but there was no response from the other side. The kind of stillness that made everything seem frozen in time enveloped me, and an uneasy feeling gnawed at my stomach. The air was thick with silence, the kind that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

My heart pounded in my chest,  Hesitantly, I reached for the doorknob, as my fingers wrapped around the cold metal, I held my breath and turned it slowly. To my surprise, it wasn’t locked. A jolt of confusion and fear shot through me. "She didn’t even lock the door? What the hell is happening with her?" All these thoughts swirled in my mind, a chaotic storm of worry and dread.

I pushed the door open, the creak of the hinges cutting through the silence like a knife. The dimly lit hallway stretched out before me. I stepped inside, my footsteps muffled by the thick carpet.

"Aarohi…?" I called out, my voice trembling. No answer. My heart raced faster, and my mouth went dry. As I moved further into the house, called her name again, louder this time, Still no answer.

My mind raced with possibilities, each one more terrifying than the last. Was she hurt? Had someone been here?

Then, I saw it. In the dim light, I could make out a figure slumped on the floor near the sofa in the living room.

My heart lurched, and I rushed over, dropping to my knees beside her. It was Aarohi, unconscious, her face pale and her breathing shallow.

“Aarohi!” I shouted, shaking her gently. Panic gripped me, trying to wake her a few more times but, no response, then I picked her up in my arms and rushed to my car, keeping my eyes on her, praying she would wake up and alright.

I opened the car door and carefully placed Aarohi in the backseat, ensuring she was as comfortable as possible. Her head rested gently against the seat, and I tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, my hands trembling.

Then, I jumped into the driver's seat, the engine roaring to life as I sped off towards the hospital. My grip on the steering wheel was tight. The streets blurred past, but my focus was on the rearview mirror, constantly checking to see if she stirred.

All along the way, I was praying she would be alright. My heart raced, matching the frantic pace of my thoughts. The minutes felt like hours, each one dragging on as I fought to get her the help she needed.

We reached the hospital. Nurses and doctors were already waiting, alerted by my frantic call on the way. The automatic doors slid open, and I jumped out, rushing to the backseat to gently lift Aarohi into my arms once more.

The medical team quickly approached, taking her from me with practiced efficiency. I followed closely as they whisked her through the hallways, my heart pounding in my chest. We arrived at a private room prepared for her, fully equipped with all the necessary facilities.
