Rudra...
After a long, warm hug, we pulled apart, lingering for a moment as our eyes met. There was something different in her gaze—a sparkle, brighter and more alive than before, filled with a light of hope and excitement that I hadn't seen in a while. It was as if a new fire had been ignited within her.
I gestured towards the couch and offered her a seat, taking a spot right beside her. I could sense a touch of timidness in her, a soft blush creeping up her cheeks.
Her hands fidgeted slightly on her lap, betraying her shyness. I wanted to ease her nerves, so I started with a simple question, hoping to bridge the gap between us.
"How was everything at home?" I asked gently, my voice soft and inviting, wanting to coax her out of her shell.
She hesitated for a moment, her gaze dropping to her hands before lifting again, a small smile playing on her lips.
"It was...okay," she began, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I think, for now, everyone understood and trying to accept. And as for my uncle, he apologized to me but I can’t trust him anymore." She paused as if testing the weight of her words, and I watched as a flicker of vulnerability passed through her eyes, quickly replaced by that same hopeful shine.
Encouraged by her response, I nodded, leaning in just a little closer, my heart swelling with relief and affection. "I'm glad to hear that," I replied softly, my hand reaching out to gently cover hers, offering silent support. "You deserve to feel okay. You deserve to feel happy."
She looked at me, her smile growing a little wider, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Thank you," she murmured, her voice filled with emotion. "For always being there. For understanding."
I squeezed her hand, a silent promise passing between us. "Always," I whispered, and in that moment, everything else seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of us, basking in the warmth of renewed connection and the promise of new beginnings.
"I think I should leave now. Everyone is waiting for me," she said, attempting to stand up.
But before she could move away, I gently grabbed her hand and pulled her towards me. She stumbled, landing softly on my lap. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close. For a moment, she looked startled, her eyes widening in panic, but I quickly reassured her with a calm, steady voice.
"Relax," I murmured, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "It's just the two of us here. And as for your team, I've already asked Pratik to take care of everything. You don’t need to worry about a thing."
She hesitated, then nodded slowly, her expression softening as she realized I meant every word. Her hand moved up to my face, her fingers tracing the contours of my cheek, her touch soft and hesitant.
