Chapter 18: Emotion

Vanitas was strolling around the city until he was taking his his day off from work. He was just going to meet you and tell you about his attendance of Diamonds' Dance organized by his father and Mrs. Tsurugi.

He and Adrien will be the king of the ball alongside Kagami, who has been chosen to be this year's queen. Neither Adrien nor Kagami want to go, but they are only teenagers who cannot disobey their parents's orders.

While he was meeting you a the Île aux Cygnes hear heard someone whispering his name. He got on his guard looking for someone who would gladly  sneak up on him.

When he turns around with his knife in his grasp, the person was too quick and bruise him with multiple attacks.

The last thing Vanitas say was a figure in blue.....with a peacock shaped pin.

You were waiting for Vanitas to have ice-cream with you, but he didn't show up, which saddens you. And you sat on the table with Noe and Domi how you talk about Vanitas' absence.

"I don't get how he's absence....we hang out  everyday. We've both told each other we're in love. Yet, every time we're about to kiss, something comes up, he runs like Cinderella and went on a hunt. Do you think Vanitas is confine by his father?"

"You don't know?" Domi asked.

"YOU have no idea what he's doing tonight?" Noe asked you.

You crossed your arms. "No. I'll have you know that because of a certain friend's advice. Marinette was sad too that Adrien had to go without telling her."

"Yeah!" Marinette decided to jump in the conversation. "I stopped making Adrien plans, and decided to let things happen because NO, I can't control everything, and yes, he's free to do whatever he wants."

"Excuse me, are you invited in our meeting? Go away." Domi rudely dismisses your sister as she was taken a back and sink down to be dismissed. Domi puts a hand on your shoulder and show you the news. "This is the "Diamonds' Dance", Tonight, Vanitas' attending the Diamonds' Dance, a society ball his father organizes every year for his most powerful friends and their children. I am invited as well."

"So that's the reason why he didn't tell me yet." You furrow your brows.

"I'm guessing he didn't want to make you sad because he can't bring you." Noe claims.

"You gotta be on the official guests' list to get in. Kagami will be there, as well as Prince Ali, Chloé, Zoé, me." Domi explains.

"Zoé? But we're supposed to go to the movies together tonight with my sister." You reminded.

{~Jardin des Tuileries~}

Kagami and her mother, Tomoe are practicing fencing, having a one-on-one battle against each other. Tomoe smacks Kagami's sword out of her hand. "That's enough for today. Go get your things. We have to get ready."

Kagami heavily pants. "Yes, Mother."

Kagami begins to walk over to a nearby bench where her stuff lays before being interrupted by a familiar face.

"Hello, Kagami." Lila holds a water bottle and a towel.

"Uh, I'll be right with you, Mother! " Kagami walks over to Lila.

 "You don't look happy, Kagami. Is something wrong?" Lila hands Kagami a water bottle.

"I can't stay long, Lila. I'm accompanying my mother to the Diamonds' Dance." Kagami grabs the water bottle and takes a sip. " Kagami grabs the water bottle and takes a sip. "And I really don't feel like going. My mother and Adrien's father want to introduce us as the King and Queen of the ball, which is so embarrassing since Adrien and I aren't together. " She puts down the water bottle and grabs the towel that Lila hands to her before putting the towel inside her bag, and glances at Lila. "And even though I still have feelings for Adrien that I don't always understand, he and Marinette are deeply in love with each other. I thought loving Vanitas would get over my heart ache, but it just made it worse and hurt (Y/n). I'm surprised you're not taking this opportunity to speak ill of (Y/n)."
