Shining Rebirth {Vanitas x Reader} Vol.5

Chapter 24: Representation

 Fireworks are continued to be set off for the end-of-the-school-year dance. A heartbroken Marinette walks to the tower's elevator, her make-up still looking messed up,you begin to worry for her while holding Vanitas' hand.

"You don't have to go in there, if you want to..." You  sadly grow concerned.

"We fought so hard for a happy ending, (Y/n)." Marinette wipes her tears. "We have to go to this dance, if only for our friends' sake."

"You've changed...a bit...." Vanitas mutterers  even if he has no part in saying it.

"Is there anything I can do...?" you asked.

"Do you know a surefire trick to keep from crying?" She asked back.

"If I did, I'd use it on myself." After a few reassurances from you, you three step inside the elevator. Going up, she tries her best to hold back her tears.

"I won't cry. I won't cry." Marinette fans her face with both her hands as she holds back her tears. " I won't cry. With a little luck, no one will even notice me."

Stepping out the elevator, a spotlight opens, directing at you. "Let's give it up for the girl who organized this awesome night with Zoé, make some noise for (Y/n) and  Marinette!"

The other students in the venue start to cheer upon your entrance. As the party continues on, Argos and Kagami arrive on the tower as well

"What if it's not actually them?" Argos asked since he knows that Vanitas is Sapphire. But you the Dragon-Phoenix? And Marinette is Ladybug?

"I couldn't believe it either at first." Kagami recalls from overhearing your conversation with Alya in "Perfection", then informing Félix later.

It's the only possible explanation, revealing that Kagami and Félix are aware about you and Vanitas are Sapphire and Dragon-Phoenix.

"I'm petrified at the thought of doing something careless again and losing my Miraculous because I won't be focused on my mission!"

Argos and Kagami contemplates on their plan with Marinette before giving the Book of Vanitas  back to Vanitas.

"But that's the only possible explanation."

"Do you think they can be trusted?"

"They're my friends. We don't have a choice." Kagami holds hands with Argos. " My mother and Gabriel Agreste will never allow us to love each other freely. Only Sapphire can help us."

As Argos smiles, the two of them share a kiss before Argos jumps below to de-transform. "Fold my feathers." He de-transforms to Félix whilst disguising himself as Adrien. He walks casually into the party, where Miss Bustier gives you a bouquet of flowers.

"Thank you, (Y/n)! Without you and Marinette... I never would've had the courage to run for Mayor!" As Miss Bustier continues to thank you, Marinette sees "Adrien" at a distance.

"Oh! You're welcome, Miss Bustier! We've always been an inspiration to you— I-I mean, the opposite!" She runs off bumping everyone leaving you and Vanitas.

Some of her classmates thank her about everything she has done. But she sees "Adrien" (actually Félix) and is confident about him being really Adrien. She starts to follow him but some of her friends ask what's wrong, mainly Nino and Alya, but Marinette doesn't listen to them and continues to follow him.

You watch  Marinette leave before Zoe congratulated you. "Oh, (Y/n)! We did it! Did you see this? The dance is incredible!"

You nodded. "Totally,  let's party." You did a little dance, but Vanitas had a far away look so you go up and join him. "Still thinking that about Adrien?"
