Lambency (Ingo x Reader)

45. White Day

This morning, your Pokémon do no wake up to the sound of your alarm, but that of your overexcited squeal. One of them even falls from the top of your bed, stupefied, while another barges into your bedroom with a worried expression and lets out an interrogative cry.

"I-I-I-Ingo wrote me last night!", you are gaping at your phone. The Pokémon standing at the threshold, fully alert a second ago, groans and drags itself back to its own bed. The one on the floor sleepily moans and immediately falls back to sleep.

Ingo has indeed sent you a message the day before asking if you would be available to meet him and Emmet for a morning tea in their office before the beginning of their busy day, with several Multi battles scheduled until the evening.

They were waiting for you... thirty minutes ago?!

You went to bed earlier than usual after a long day at work and exceptionally snoozed your clock, allowing yourself to sleep in.

You try calling Ingo then Emmet but no one is picking up. You send them messages instead to advise you will meet them at Gear Station.

"Team! Time to go! I'll get you breakfast on the way! I'm so sorry for rushing you!", you apologise to your partners while getting ready.

Your Pokémon obediently do as you say, understanding it is a special request as you would not be urging them to leave that soon under normal circumstances.

You hop in the next train to Gear Station and pray to Arceus that Ingo and Emmet are still available. You send a message advising you are onboard and will be there soon.

Immediately after reaching the terminal, Ingo replies to you:

"Good morning, dear (Name)! I hope this message finds you well. You must have arrived at Gear Station this instant. I cannot call because of the noise but I will be waiting for you on the Green Line. See you there!"

"Luckily, it's the platform right next to ours!", you advise the Pokémon accompanying you, who nods in relief.

Your heart hums a love song as soon as you catch sight of Ingo at the queue of the car, allowing passengers in.

"Right this way, please! Welcome and thank you for riding the Battle Subway today!"

"Ingo! Good morning!"

"Ah, (Name)! Welcome to the Battle Subway! Please, get on and I'll be with you in an instant!", he requests with a loud, excited voice.

You wait for Ingo inside while he lets more passengers board the train. When the alarm blares, he jumps in and bows. The doors shut behind him and the train starts moving a few seconds later.

"(Name), I came as fast as an express train! It is wonderful to see you could ride with us today! Much obliged!"

"I did my best to come early but unfortunately couldn't make it for morning tea, sorry..."

"Not at all! I am the one who ought to apologise for our lack of punctuality! We should have contacted you in a more timely fashion! I hope this late request did not disturb your schedule beyond reason..."

"I wanted to take it easy today, so a morning tea with you two would have been perfect to start the day! Hopefully next time..."

"Absolutely! There will be more opportunities in the future!", he reassures you.

"By the way, where's Emmet?"

"He is at the front car and will join us soon enough... In the meantime, may I say that I find you look radiant, today? I wish I had your energy this early in the morning!"
