56. Heart-to-Heart (I)

As Ingo slowly emerges from his slumber, he tries gripping to the wake of the beautiful dream he just had.

That of his friends, in Unova.

Someplace far away.

Emmet... Klinklang... Elesa... Chandelure...

(Name).

"What is it, Ingo?"

His eyes snap open, causing you to gasp in surprise.

Both of you are laying next to each other in a tent that the Galaxy Team Survey Corps kindly provided you with the night before.

You stare at each other for a few seconds until you let out a timid chuckle. Your reaction seems to appease Ingo, whose heart, just like yours, beats twofold faster.

"Good morning, (Name).", he murmurs with a tender smile.

"G-good morning, Ingo...", you sheepishly reply.

Regaining his senses, he comes to understand that his good arm lies under your neck, like a comfortable pillow. His other arm lies on your upper back, and gently cradles you.

He slept bare-chested under a thick blanket whilst you used his ragged coat to stay warm. Yet, the proximity between your bodies is so thin that it keeps the cold at bay. You are so close that your legs are entangled with his.

You wiggle a little to move away from his embrace.

"D-did you sleep w-well?", you shyly ask, avoiding eye contact. Though, you are unsure where to look...

"I did. I hope you, too, had a restful night?"

You nod briskly, your face turning redder than a Tamato berry.

"Though, I reckon I must have passed out again as I cannot remember when you and I retired to bed."

You gulp and stammer even harder- the way he phrased it makes it sound like a common ritual.

"K-Kan, Go and S-Shi t-told me to use the spare t-tent because n-nights a-are freezing and they would a-absolutely not s-share theirs w-with me...! N-noting Waka had to share with them, t-too... W-we've likely nestled a-against each other during the night, i-it was very, very cold...! S-Sneasel and C-Cyndaquil slept between us, s-so nothing hap... uuh, none of us froze because they're like a h-hot water bottle, you know?!", you get lost in explanations.

Ingo does not look bothered by any of it and clarifies, "Thus, I take it that the Galaxy Team scouts welcomed us to their base camp?"

"Y-yes, after you passed out from exhaustion, y-yesterday... T-Tangrowth carried you here, t-then Shi kindly washed you a-and changed your bandage..."

"How obliging of him and his fellow scouts! I'm satisfied that I overcame exhaustion with rest. I even had a dream about you and my brother."

"D-did you?!", you roll on your belly and nearly jump on him. "What was it about?! I want to know!"

Ingo is happy to see you so energetic.

"I'm combing through the memories but unfortunately can't recollect the details. However, I've got the feeling that Elesa and Chandelure were with us."

"Oh, Elesa...", you murmur with emotion.

"Also, there was a new Pokémon..."

"A new Pokémon?!"

"I think it was Magnezone, or a similar one..."

You cock your head to the side.

"But you didn't have a Magnezone back in Unova..."
