The familiar warmth you felt a few minutes ago is slowly fading.
You hear some excited meows as the tiny Sneasel, who gathered around you during the night to sleep on you and stay warm, are waking up and expecting to be fed.
Lady Sneasler chirrups and all of them run in her direction.
You instinctively curl up after inhaling cold air. The fire has almost completely gone out at such an early hour.
You are tempted to ask Cyndaquil to revive it, but she is comfortably sleeping next to you under the blanket. So is Rhyhorn.
Besides, you do not have the energy to give her any instructions...
You sink deeper into the blanket when someone unexpectedly tuck you in.
You know it must be Ingo's doing.
You want to thank him, but it is so hard to speak up because you are very tired...
"Sneasnea?"
Your Sneasel climbs on top of you and attentively snuffles your forehead and hair, probably checking if you, too, are awake. However, you feel that weight being lifted up from you almost immediately, as if Ingo had picked him up. You hear Sneasel groan and Ingo whisper "shh" very briefly.
You eventually manage to open your eyes and blink.
"... Hmm...?", you moan sleepily and look up.
The cave is very dark, as only the remains of burning ashes partially light up the place. Just enough for you to distinguish the shape of Ingo's body holding Sneasel, as well as Sneasler standing further away.
"Ingo... Sneasel..."
In spite of the blanket, you feel Ingo delicately patting your shoulder. He leans forward into your ear and replies as low as possible, "Good morning, (Name). Dawn is breaking, Lady Sneasler and her kin are going out to hunt. Please sleep a little longer."
What a pleasant sensation... it sends tingles down your spine.
Your heart begins pounding faster as you sense his face lingering close to yours... But nothing happens.
"I'll wait at the entrance of the cave.", he whispers.
He stands up and leaves with Sneasel.
Now that everything is quiet again, you really want to fall back to sleep, but the more minutes pass, the more difficult it gets.
You slowly remove the blanket as to not disturb Rhyhorn and Cyndaquil, and notice that Ingo has left his coat on top of you. You take it with you and do your best to not stumble on your way out of the cave.
You find him at the entrance, just as he told you. He is leaning against the wall, staring into space. The sky is still grey, but there is enough light for you to make out the bright features of his face. As soon as he hears you approaching, he turns in your direction and you notice a spark in his eyes, as if he was smiling.
"Ah, (Name)! Are you well rested? It is still early..."
"I couldn't sleep anymore, so I came to see you."
"Thank you kindly for keeping me company, much appreciated! Would you care to join me and watch the sunrise together?"
"Yes!", your tone is as enthusiastic as his. "Here, your co--"
A cold wind blows all of a sudden and you uncontrollably shivers.
"Brrr..."
Ingo quietly places the coat over your shoulders.
