Here it goes :D

Tilly's POV

"Tilly" My mum's voice travelled up the stairs. As I heard her, I groaned and pulled myself up and grabbed my phone to look at the time. It was 7:30. What the hell could be so important at 7:30?

Moving. I was moving houses today.

"Tilly, wake up we are leaving in an hour." She hella again after me.

"Stop yelling, I'm up." I shouted back, swinging my legs out of bed to stand up and stretch the tiredness away.

The sound of boxes being thrown into the van outside my window interrupted my Californian thoughts. I was moving to California. A 18 year old girl who grew up in New York and her mum who grew up in England moving to California, the other side of America. What could it be like? How different will it be? Will I make friends? Get a job? Who knows but apparently we had no choice but to move. We were not safe anymore here.

I made my way downstairs once I had pulled a hoodie over myself and put a pair my most comfortable jogging bottoms on. I sat down one last time at the breakfast table in what was soon to be my old house and found myself starring out the patio doors whilst munching on the toast my mum had cooked, thinking about the new house which I had only seen once or twice.

My Mum came into the house one more time to pick up the last box. "We can grab a better breakfast on the way, are you going to change out of that?"

"No, why am I not dressed to your liking?" I said sarcastically and smiled knowing it was the truth. "I'd rather be comfortable than well dressed."

"Suit yourself." She simply replied which was unusual for her. However, the smile on her face had sarcasm written all over it.

She had recently been giving me a lot more freedom and allowing me to make decisions of my own which made me question her reason for being this way. Was it because I was eighteen three weeks ago or was she stressed about moving and didn't want any more hassle? Whatever it was I didn't mind because it was perfectly fine with me anyway.

The car journey was long and quiet. Precisely 40 hours long. I slept most of the time because of the ridiculous time I had been woken up. We stopped a many of times to grab something to eat and drink and even though I wasn't hungry I still ate to please my mother. Sitting in the car for hours and hours was boring as my mum didn't make conversation once. I felt restricted by my seatbelt and it wasn't good for
my claustrophobia.

The noise of the car door slamming shut woke me up and I opened my eyes to reveal the house that was now ours; A beautiful, modern cream house and much bigger than the old one. Leading up to the large, centred front door was five stone steps. The house had large windows placed on either side of the door two up and two down and then one huge viewing point window centred above the door. As I walked in I was greeted by a spiral staircase leading up to the next floor where four bedroom doors and one bathroom one randomly sat. A giant living room was situated on the right hand side of the house and was decorated with white walls, grey sofas and blue accessories. To the left of me was a contrasting kitchen furnished with white cabinets and a grey marble counter top.

I stood in amazement as my mum approached me.

"You like it then?" she smiled at me.

"I love it, it's like a dream come true." I told her. This really was my dream home and I can only hope that one day I can own a beautiful house like this of my own.

Four hours later we were unpacking the final box. Seeing as we didn't bring much it didn't take too long however it had been a long and tiring few days and I was going to fall asleep any minute soon.

"Tilly, I'm going food shopping, do you want to come?" My mum asked as I heard the front door open.

"I'm going to stay here, I'm quite tired." I replied not really wanting to do anything right now.

"Okay well stay safe." and with that she left. It was quite daunting being left in a big house alone despite the fact I was eighteen it was still scary as ever as I hadn't known this house for longer than five hours.

I started exploring every inch of the house.

I had already seen most of the downstairs so I headed up stairs to face the four white panel doors that had mystery behind them.

Opening the first door on the right I found what must be the spare bedroom; a single bed, bedside table, wardrobes and a corner desk and chair. As soon as I spotted myself in the wall hung mirror I quickly moved on into the room next door realising what I had decided to travel across the country in.

A bright white and light grey bathroom with all the necessities and a huge vanity with an equally huge mirror above. Everything was already in place and looked showroom finished. Towels neatly on the towel radiator, bottles neatly lined on the vanity top and even candles surrounding the free standing bath tub.

The next room was the biggest, my mum had made it clear this was her room because half of her clothes were already hanging up in the open wardrobe. Her bedroom was decorated in the colours off white and taupe and looked magazine professional, after all it was my mums job to do this sort of stuff.

That only left one more room, my room.

The door creaked as I opened it which made me jump a little. When I stepped in the room I was not faced with a bedroom instead I found a gym; a treadmill, a cross trainer and some gym mats. Don't get me wrong it was incredible but where was my room?

What?

Mum told me there are three bedrooms in this house...

The tiny room I thought was the spare one can't be mine... Can it?

As I backed out of the room I thought was mine it turned around to find a small staircase leading up to another floor.

With that I gingerly looked up the dark staircase, took a breath and ran up the stairs like a little child.

I burst open the door and it was breath-taking; fairy lights hung around the room, double fitted wardrobes, which I probably would need to buy more clothes for, and a bed which was in the centre of the room decorated with a green, pink and white duvet set along with scatter cushions of all shapes and sizes. The bed backed onto a feature wall lined with fascinating, swirling wallpaper I could sit and stare for ages at.

The noise of the front door opening brought me back to reality and I ran downstairs to be greeted by my mum.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Yes, thank you so much for everything." I said as I hugged her.

"Honey, it's no problem, thank you for being here... but its late you should go and get some sleep because you have school tomorrow."

"Okayy, thanks again." I smiled and then ran back up stairs to my perfect bedroom that I would spend the rest of my years at home in.

In no time I was drifting off to get a good night's sleep ready for school in the morning.
