|| Max's POV ||
"Damn it, Lucas." Max sighed as she dabbed the cloth on her boyfriend's busted eyebrow. She sat on Lucas's lap on one of the benches in the girls locker room. "Out of everyone you could have fought, you chose Jason Carver?""I didn't choose to fight him—" Lucas cut himself off with a wince as max drew the cloth along the deep wound sliding though his eyebrow.
"So you're saying Jason's face just happened to run into your fist?" Max rung out the rag in the bowl of water she got when she brought Lucas to the girls locker room after witnessing his fight.
"Exactly. He just kept running into my fist over and over and over and ov—hey, be gentle!" Lucas flinched away from Max's touch, but he couldn't get far as Max tighter her legs grip in Lucas's waist.
"Don't be such a baby and get over here." The redhead pulled Lucas over to her by the back of his head. "This is gonna leave a scar."
"Perfect, it'll add to the badass look i'm going for." Max gave him an amused and unbelieving look.
"Is that so?" Max laughed, unwrapping the butterfly bandaid and placing it squarely on his eyebrow.
"Uh, yea actually. Do you not think I'm badass??" Lucas traced his hands down Max's waist, looking up at her with his stupid little smirk.
"Uh, no actually. I don't." Max mimicked him, copying his silly smirk. The boy rolled his eyes, moving forward slightly to tickle Max on the sides of the waist.
Max squealed in reply, squirming in Lucas's grasp. "Stop it!" Max giggled, clutching his wrists. "Stop moving so much, I just stopped the bleeding!"
"Okay, okay." Lucas let out a breath of surrender. They sat in silence for a while as Max began her work on the boys busted lip. Max didn't notice since she was laser focused on Lucas's lip, but the whole time Lucas was admiring every little detail about Max. The way her nose crinkles every time she sniffles—she caught a cold recently—the way her eyes twinkle in the bland locker room light. The way her hair flows down her back like a hot waterfall of flames. There were many more, but if Lucas were to name them all, we'd all be here forever.
Max glanced up at Lucas's eyes, gasping softly when she realized he was already staring intently at her. "What?" She attempted to hide her small smile.
"I love you." Max raised an eyebrow, her eyes widening and cheeks turning red.
"D-Don't get all cheesy on me Lucas." Max stammered, thrown off by his out of nowhere comment. "I love you too." She said, going back to working on his busted lip.
