|| Lucas's POV ||
  I swung around the city, taking in the gorgeous landscape, busy traffic, the shouting people, the setting sun.

  I landed on our meeting spot and settled down, one leg outstretched, one brought to me chest so I could comfortably rest my arm on my knee. Lifting my mask to my forehead, I stared out at the mixture of oranges and reds and yellows. For the first time in a long time, i feel myself sigh contentedly.

  Although she lands silently on the rooftop, my spider senses had alerted me a while before she appeared. What they didn't alert me to was her emotional state. I turned my head to look at Max, but before I could get a word out she jumped into my arms and wrapped her arms and legs around me. Her face, still covered by her mask, was buried in the crook on my neck.

  "H-Hey. . ." I returned her embrace and rubbed her back gently. She shivered. "What's up, Maxie?" That's the nickname I save for special occasions. She let out a small sob into my chest.

  "Max, talk to me." I gently lifted her chin from my neck, carefully pulling up her mask. Her usual, witty and bright features were now dulled, her cheeks tear stained, her eyes threatening with more. I searched for some sort of answer in her eyes, but they only revealed the fact I already knew.

  Max's soft pink lip quivered with emotion, causing me to instinctively caress her cheek. She leaned into my hand. This action seemed to make her burst into tears again. I pulled her back into my chest, petting her hair as she sobbed. I occasionally whispered a soft, "Shhh. . ." or a "I'm here, Maxie." and maybe a forehead kiss mixed in there somewhere.

  After a little while of this, Max's sobs got quieter and she stopped shaking so much. She didn't move though, and neither did I. But i wouldn't have either way.

  "What do you want me to do for you, Max?"

  "Just hold me."

  So that's what I did.
