Takes place before season 3 but after season 2
|| Lucas's POV ||
Lucas was laying comfortably on his bed reading a comic book. It was after sunset and was pouring outside. The party hadn't hung out today, seeing how everyone seemed to have something else to do. At one point, he tried to talk to Max on the Supercom, to which there was no response. He shrugged it off to her just being busy.
Suddenly, there came a knock at his window, pulling Lucas from his thoughts. He quickly closed the comic and made his way over to the window. When he opened it, he saw a completely soaked Max standing out in the rain.
"Max? What are you doing here?" He asked, looking her up and down.
"Well I didn't come here to stand in the rain." She said in a sarcastic tone.
"Sorry." He replied, reaching out and pulling the girl in effortlessly. Placing his girlfriend down, he was now able to see her better. She was soaked, her ginger hair sticking together in strands. She was obviously shivering, though she tried to hide it.
"Here, I'll get you some dry clothes." Lucas shuffled around his drawers, pulling out some gray sweat pants and a t-shirt.
"T-Thanks." Max smiled and took the clothes. "Uhm, where do I change?"
"Oh, you can change..uh- just change over there and I'll turn around." Max nodded and walked over to the corner Lucas pointed to. He turned around as he said he would and waited patiently. After a few minutes, he spoke, "Almost done?" In response, Lucas felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Max standing there in the clothes he'd given her. He gazed at her, taking in all that was his girlfriend. Even in the most unflattering clothes, she still found a way to look gorgeous.
"What?" Max asked in her usual sarcastic and amused tone.
"Nothing, just admiring you." He said in a charming tone, to which Max giggled and rolled her eyes.
"So.." Max said, sitting down on Lucas's bed.
"What do ya wanna do?" Lucas sat down next to her.
"Uhm, what were you doing before I showed up?"
"Reading this X-Men comic." He gestures to the comic sitting on his nightstand.
"Oh, okay. You can just read it I guess." Max said awkwardly.
"What are you gonna do?"
"I don't know. I'll figure something out to do." She shrugged and looked around.
  "I don't want to let you be bored alone." Max just shrugged and picked at the skin on her fingers. Max's shoulder accidentally bumped Lucas's, making him finally making him realize how cold Max still was. "Why don't we lay down?" Lucas thought maybe his body heat could warm her up.
"Oh, okay." With that, he pulled Max over to him and they laid down. Lucas wrapped one arm around Max's waist and the other rested in her fiery red hair. "If you don't mind me asking..why did you come here? Did something happen?"
  Max frowned and looked down, her eyes shifting to a dull, tired color. "You don't have to-" He was interrupted by Max speaking quickly and quietly. "Billy and Neil were fighting again. My mom was trying to break it up or something and Neil got mad and..he hit her. When he did that I just got sick of being there and left."
  Lucas frowned angrily. Why did Max's family have to be so..awful? She doesn't deserve half the things her family does to her. "It's okay, Max. I'm happy you came. I just wish Neil wasn't such an asshole." He grunted, rolling his eyes.
  "Tell me about it." Max rolled her eyes, a smile returning to her face. Max hesitantly snuggled closer to Lucas. After a while she whispered, "Thank you, Lucas..for letting me stay here for a little bit."
  "Of course." Lucas smiled at the girl in his arms. Max leaned in and kissed Lucas softly. They let the kiss linger for a few moments before Max pulled away, laying her head down comfortably on the pillow. Her eyes slowly closed and her breathing slowed. Lucas chuckled and whispered to Max, "Goodnight, MadMax."
  "Night, Stalker.." She groggily replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
