Chapter Twenty-Four

The next morning I was seated in Tazmin's car, specifically her Range Rover.

Where she briefly specified that we were heading back over to The Design District.

Which was packed given that it was Sunday.

Everyone passing by the now parked SUV seemed to be smiling or conversing with whoever they came with—numerous designer shopping bags hanging off their arms.

Meanwhile, Tazmin and I both looked neutral as we sat in silence.

Which we had remained in since the moment I slid into her car.

I wasn't mad about last night—but I also wasn't the happiest.

Truly, I couldn't care less about her ex.

It's just about how she handles situations.

It's actually growing irritating.

And it's gotten to a point where it's too exhausting to even try and get her back—not when it could cost someone their life.

Even if it would be hypocritical on Tazmin's part.

But I've just decided at this point, to ensure this all stays as just sex.

That we have some sort of boundaries put up.

"We should talk," Tazmin suddenly spoke through the silence.

I hummed tightly, "Go on," I mumbled, peering out of the tinted windows.

"Look at me and I will."

I rolled my eyes, glancing away from the window to meet her stare.

And as soon as I met her dark eyes, Tazmin let out a long sigh, "I just want to say I'm—"

"No, actually," I cut her short, my tone clipped and my stare narrowed, "You don't need to say anything, Tazmin. I know I'm not your girlfriend and honestly—I never want to fucking be your girlfriend, so trust that I got the message last night, even if your behavior was unnecessary as usual."

Tazmin remained silently for a few moments, but I couldn't miss the amusement growing on her features.

"You done?" she asked.

I drew in a tight breath, "No, I'm not done," I said, even if I was.

But her current behavior is irritating.

She never takes me seriously.

Tazmin rested her elbow on the middle console and holding her head in her hand as she said—

"Go on then baby."

I clenched my jaw, hating that her sentence alone seemed to make a fire burn around me.
