Chapter Thirty-Six

"You're quiet."

"I'm just thinking," I corrected Tazmin, who stood in front of me as I sat on the counter watching as she prepared our plates of food.

"And what are you thinking about?" Tazmin asked, raising a brow when I met her dark eyes.

I gave her a tilted look, "Don't you think if I wanted to tell you then I wouldn't be quiet?" I countered, not even contemplating the idea of letting her in on my thoughts.

Thoughts about her.

And me...

And us as a—

"Let's just eat," I quickly rushed out, shaking my head as I slid down from the counter.

But before I could take even a few steps past her, Tazmin gently grabbed my hand and pulled me back to her.

Just like that, I was back under her precise stare with her arms wrapped so perfectly around my waist.

"Your day," Tazmin reminded me, drawing her hand up my back that was now covered by one of her baggy t-shirts.

Which I pulled on with a pair of her sweatpants after we had both taken separate showers, considering our time spent at the beach left us covered in sand and ocean water.

Meanwhile, Tazmin wore a grey pair of sweatpants and a cropped shirt that clung to her body and exposed her toned stomach and arms.

"It was filled with the same meetings and cases," I told her, subtly reaching over to grab my plate.

That Tazmin instinctively took out of my hand, holding the plate of food for me.

"And therapy?" she asked, her dark eyes trailing every inch of my face and somehow leaving a warmth lingering down my body.

I blinked a few times, suddenly pulling away from her, which forced her arm to fall back by her side, "It was weird considering I'm not used to it, but it'll probably get better," I murmured.

Tazmin nodded, her dark eyes never faltering away from me, which seemed to make the heat around me grow deeper.

Especially on my face.

Which made me turn away from her, grabbing the two bottles of water and walking over toward the empty living room.

Apparently, the twins had left while we were at the beach with Nadia earlier.

And I couldn't tell if it was a good or bad thing that Tazmin and I were alone.

"What did you whisper to Nadia when she was leaving earlier?" I curiously asked, falling back onto the large couch as Tazmin approached me with two plates.

"That I put the Trolli's I promised her in her book bag," she briefly explained, handing me my plate as she sat down beside me.

"Makes sense," I determined, grabbing one of the remotes to navigate over to Netflix.

And as soon as I had the movie What Happened To Monday up and playing, we began eating.
