Father and son remained seated around the table while Lucifer tried to process what his father had said to him.

Lucifer: God? Do you mean being a god like you?

God: Something like that. You'd have the same powers as me, but you wouldn't be me. You'd be a completely different god from me.

Lucifer: And why are you telling me all this? Why are you offering me something this important?

God: Out of all your siblings, you are my first choice. After all, you already know what it feels like to be the king of an entire population. You have the leadership qualities a king needs. I know you'd do a good job.

Lucifer: What about Azrael or that gossip Gabriel?

God: Azrael has a rather serious attitude. His gaze gives off a vibe that he wants you dead, though he is the angel of death, and it makes sense. As for Gabriel... she's just a gossip.

Lucifer: What about Amenadiel? Or Jesus? I mean, he's been in heaven since the crucifixion.

God: He already made his life in heaven, and he hasn't spoken to me since I let the humans crucify him.

Lucifer: And I don't blame him.

God: So, tell me, do you accept? You'd have the power to change things. You could make it so that those enemies of yours never existed. You could rule over your siblings. You could make your daughters' lives easier; they wouldn't have to go through difficult times if you didn't want them to.

Lucifer: I don't know.

God: You could get rid of that bellhop you hate so much.

Lucifer: You're tempting me with that.

God: It's your decision, Samael.

Lucifer: What about you? You wouldn't disappear?

God: Of course not. What you would inherit would be my powers only. I could have a peaceful life on Earth as my retirement.

Lucifer: You don't want to be God anymore?

God: Being God is very important. At first, it was fun, but over time it became quite boring. Being omnipresent means all surprises lose their charm. Even if I close my eyes, I still see everything. That really sucks.

Lucifer: It's hard.

Though that decision would be something anyone would make in an instant, for him, it was quite complicated. Being God is something he never thought would be offered to him, and he didn't know what decision to make. If he accepted, he could make things easier for everyone. He could make many good things happen for his family and his people in hell.

But if he refused, what would happen? Would his father choose another of his siblings as a candidate? And what would that sibling do to fulfill such an enormous responsibility? He couldn't think about that under the pressure he felt from his father's gaze, especially since there were four eyes watching him intently.

Would things get worse or better? Any decision he made would provoke this. He needed help to make that decision, and obviously, the annoying voice describing everything wasn't helping.

Lucifer: Narrating my thoughts doesn't help me make a good decision.

God: Sorry.

Lucifer: Being God is a huge responsibility. I would practically see the pain and suffering of every living being on Earth while also seeing their happiness and tranquility.

God: What do you say?

Lucifer: I would like to say yes, but both you and I know it can't be that way.
