"We have until Monday. We have six days." Five deadpanned.
"Is it vanya?"
"Klaus!" Allison said.
"What? It's usually Vanya." Klaus said before taking a sip of his drink. Talia pushed up on the bottom of his glass causing him to spill it on his shirt.
"Do you have any leads, five?" Vanya asked, ignoring Klaus. Diego picked up the folder and handed it to him.
"Yeah, we have one." He said handing the folder to Allison.
"Holy shit, is that dad?" Allison asked opening the folder and looking at the picture.
"That's him?" Vanya asked as she took a look at the picture.
"Yeah, he's standing on the grassy knoll." Diego said.
"Diego and I have been trying to talk to dad about what exactly this means. So far, we've got nothing." Five sighed.
"Not nothing. He's planning to kill Kennedy." Diego said.
"Maybe. But we don't know who or what sets doomsday in motion. Could be Kennedy, could be something entirely independent. But we know something changes the timeline, we have to make it right." Five corrected.
"Yeah, but how, if we don't know what's broken?" Allison asked.
"Come on. Do the math. We know dads having some shady ass meetings with some shady ass people. We know he's on the grassy knoll in three days to kill the president. So I think we all know what we have to do. Kill dad." Diego said.
"Find dad." Five said at the same time as Diego.
"None of us are supposed to be here, right? I mean, what if it's us? Has anyone here done anything to screw up the timeline?" Vanya asked.
"Diego's been stalking Lee Harvey Oswald." Luther started.
"And you've been working for Jack Ruby." Diego rebutted.
"Allison has been very involved in local politics." Klaus chimed in.
"Okay, you started a cult." Allison fired back.
"I'm-I'm just a-a nanny on a farm. I don't have anything to do with all that." Vanya spoke up.
"Well, maybe you do, you just don't know it yet." Allison added.
"I worked as a receptionist at a school and I almost got married, but that's about it." Talia threw in. She didn't add the whole murderer thing because it wouldn't be the best idea. Diego whistled to get their attention.
"Listen to yourselves. Everything in our new lives is connected to Kennedy. That can't be a coincidence. Luther works for Ruby, Allison is protesting the government, dad on the grassy knoll, Klaus is...doing something weird and pervy but probably related. See, clearly, we were all sent back here for one special reason: saving John Fitzgerald Kennedy." Diego said.
"Or, and hear me out on this, you're making it connect so you can have a hero moment. You went out of your way to stalk Lee Harvey Oswald and got thrown in the loony bin. Luther got a job that so happened to be with Ruby. Klaus started a cult somewhere in Texas. Vanya works on a farm. The only reason Allison is in politics is because she's part of the people who are being discriminated against, she's fighting the entire government not just Kennedy. I worked for a school, that's it. You are making it connect in your head by force. And five...well, five just got here so he doesn't count. We weren't sent here to save the president. We were sent here because of an accident made by five when he was saving us from dying!" Talia said. Then they all started arguing with each other.
"Guys, you all die." Five said stopping the arguments. "I was there. I saw it. I wanna forget it, but I can't. I saw Russian nukes vaporize the world with all of you in it...in a war that never happened until we brought it here. And Hazel gave his life to save us, so you may need to shut up and just listen to me. I don't know if the things we've experienced here are all connected or not. I don't know if there's a reason for everything. But dad will. We need to talk to him before everyone and everything we know is dead." Five said.
"Okay, I'm out." Luther said standing up.
"Did you even hear me, Luther?" Five asked.
"Yeah. Yeah, I did. I heard a fifty eight year old man who still wants his daddy to come fix everything. Well, you can count me out. It's time we all grew the hell up." Luther said. Talia was honestly proud of his character development in the sense he wasn't crying to daddy anymore or thinking like his moon landing was connected.
"Luther! Come back."
"Where you going?"
"Save it, Diego." Luther said when Diego started following him. Five blinked in front of Luther on the stairs.
"No one leaves until we figure this out." Five said and Luther just threw him over the railing on the stairs before the two left. Talia considered going with them to god knows where, but she decided against it. Klaus started talking about wanting to get tacos with Allison. Then he invited Talia and Vanya.
The four ended up at the hair salon Allison worked at. Allison was ranting about her husband and then they started talking about the end of the world. Talia was using the bathroom. As she was washing her hands she looked up in the mirror. "I can't believe you killed me." Caleb was standing behind her. She gasped as she turned around, he was gone. She took a deep breath thinking her mind a was just playing tricks on her. She turned back to the sink and splashed some water on her face to calm herself down. "After all I've done for you." Talia wasn't even in the mirror this time, just Caleb.
"You're not real." She told herself trying not to fall apart.
"I'm real where it matters. I'm real in your mind." He smiled wickedly. Talia closed her eyes taking a deep breath and turning away from the mirror. "Boo." There he stood, in front of her. Knife to his chest, blood trickling out of the open wound. Talia ripped the bathroom door open and rushed out the back exit of the hair salon. She ran, not having any clue where she would end up. Anytime she saw someone they had Caleb's face. Soon she ended up in the alleyway. She slid down the wall trying to catch her breath, but it was like she couldn't. She gasped and gasped for air, but it was like she could never find it.
"It's not real. It's not real. It's not real." She repeated to herself as she tried to calm herself. Soon her breathing calmed and she squeezed her eyes shut. After her panic attack she began to cry. Tears streamed down her face as she sobbed in the old alleyway.
