I'M sweating absolute bullets trying to keep up with this girl

I'M sweating absolute bullets trying to keep up with this girl. as soon as the gun fired, it was like she flipped a switch.

the entirety of the class before the tournament was informed of the new girl's transfer into their class. they asked a million questions to their homeroom teacher, asking them what class she was coming from and why she was joining them now.

"that is not my information to share. if you're so curious, why don't you ask her yourself."

they had tried to ask their classmate who was friends with the girl if he could tell them. however, all he gave them was a worried look and an excuse to leave. what i do know about this girl is from the stories kirishima had told him about her. how she was unbelievably kind to every person she met and how manly she was during a fight.

"hanta i need to tell you something." kirishima was looking down at his lunch tray unwavering while he was stuffing rice into his mouth. i let out a muffled affirmation for him to continue.

"if you have to go up against miyamoto during a fight, just be careful. she is of course my best friend, but she's a tough one when it comes to battle. she takes it very seriously so just...be aware of your surroundings."

i found out too quickly what he meant by the vague warning immediately.

right out the gate of the match, i tried to grapple her with my quirk in hopes of not having to find out how seriously she would take the match. so instead i was hoping to end it quickly.

lets just say i was severely underestimating this girls strength and tenacity.

as if i shot my tape into thin air, i blinked and she was gone. all that remained in her path, were streaks of yellow and white with little flecks of shimming starlight.

suddenly the entire area around me was hot, enough to make me gasp for air and instantaneously begin to sweat. it felt like the space around me had grown one hundred degrees hotter.

it was only then that i realized she was behind him.

i attempt to use my quirk to incapacitate her but she's far quicker than i expected. i feel all my body weight come crushing down.

she swept my feet our from under me! how did she even get there?!

i'm left gasping for air, but even so the air is so thick i can barely take anything in my lungs. i wait for the moment i feel the hard mat hit my back but instead, a blistering hot pressure punches me in the side.

a loud grunt escapes my lips as i was sent tumbling across the mat, narrowly avoiding the white borders of the boundary. at the moment of impact, i knew i was screwed because all i could hear were the cracking of my ribs inside.

"i have to push through this." i whisper to myself nearly choking on my breath as it becomes even harder to breathe.

i wasn't expecting her to be this fast or this hot.

WAIT I DIDN'T MEAN IT LIKE TH-

i finally push myself up off of my knees and stand straight up to face her. instead of finding the apologetic girl from just a few minutes ago, i was met with the shear force of determination swirling in her silver eyes.

as i stare into her eyes it was almost like i can see the burning of the sun inside of her. for a split second, i thought i saw her oddly star shaped pupil dilate and her fists tighten at her side. in the sunlight, the glistening of those metal cuffs around her wrists catches my attention.

are the cuffs something to do with her quirk? maybe it's a power enhancement tool? or maybe it's just a pretty bracelet she wanted to wear.

in my hunched over position, a puddle of sweat has accumulated over where i was standing. the heat that's coming off from this girl is enough to rival the flame hero himself.

that at least has to be apart of her quirk if anything. i just have to figure out how to defeat someone as quick as she is. how would i defeat someone that could rival ida's speed?

"i'm sorry hanta but i have to finish this off now." her voice comes out low enough that it was hard for me to hear what she had said. i didn't even get the chance to ask her to repeat herself. just like at the beginning of the match, in a blink she was gone.

a sense of panic sets into my body, my entire body freezes and my heart feels as if it's gonna burst from my chest. every inch of my body is suddenly enveloped in the burning of a thousand fires on my back.

again.

"i'm sorry hanta." her soft voice catches me completely off guard. i feel my eyes widen when the same feeling as before crashes into me.

i can mentally outline every divit on the bottom of her boot as she sends my body flying through the air. everything is a blur until all i can hear is a loud crash and the gasps of the people in the stands.

i come to a horrific halt in motion as my body goes numb, even though it also feels like i'm engulfed in flames.

i begin to feel my consciousness slip away from me and the corners of my vision go black. the last thing i take note of before i let my vision go completely dark, was the dark blue glimmer of hair rushing towards me.

"kirishima...that's y-your childhood friend down there?" kaminari sputters out after seeing his friend get beaten in the blink of an eye with only a few hits. midoriya is of course in the corner, furiously whispering to himself and jotting down notes on the match. i can tell that everyone is stunned from the fact that i hear no one screaming behind me.

i watch in proud silence as konomi rushes towards sero who is plastered into the side of the arena's concrete wall.

poor sero didn't even get to show off his quick that much.

he makes a mental note however on how much faster she has become. even he could barely keep up with her from all the way up in the stands. they have been sparring together ever since they were in middle school and he can see the absolute improvement she has made so far.

"isn't she just the manliest?" i pump my fists up into the air as i feel a singular tear fall down my cheek with pride running through my veins.

"whatever. that shitty girl doesn't even deserve to say she's apart of the hero course if she's that lame!" this was the first time bakugou had spoken since he sat down in the back to watch the other matches. i turn around somewhat startled to find him sitting back with his eyes close, his usual angry expression etched into his features.

"i don't give a single fuck who that girl is or whoever's lame ass friend she is. all that matters is that i'm gonna be number one. and i don't care who's back i have to use as my stepping stone to victory." with that, he promptly got up from his seat with his hands deep into his pockets and sauntered off with a slight stomp with every step.

i decide against saying anything based off of what he just said about konomi but instead look back down in the arena. she was walking by sero's side who was being carried away on a white stretcher until she disappears into the shadows of the tunnels.
