TODAY is finally the day.
i stand nervously in front of the looming door, the chattering of the students apart of the hero class just beyond this door. i don't know how long i've been standing there but long enough to hear some conversations die and new ones begin.
i grip onto the straps of my backpack that hang over my shoulder until a hand is placed onto the top of my head, slightly ruffling my hair. i look to the red-headed culprit and nervously grin.
"there's no need to be nervous here ko! you've already met everyone which should lift some weight off right?" he leans down slightly to be eye level with me.
"i mean i guess so. but it doesn't make it any less nerve-wracking you know?" with a stern nod, he lifts his hand off of my head and reaches to open the door. reaching his hand onto the handle, he looks back at me with a knowing look.
"well then let me do the hard first step for ya!" he slides the door open swiftly and i feel a pressure at my back, shoving me into the classroom.
i stagger in with an umph and try to catch my balance after being shoved through the door. the sounds of everyone talking becomes louder as i hear their conversations on the topic of the tournament or what they all did over the break.
"now wasn't that manly of me? opening the door for ya because you were too nervous to?" i turn to meet eiji's gleaming face of pride etched into his features. i give him a reluctant sigh before slightly nodding.
"that was very manly eiji, thank you." at my words i notice him slightly stiffen for just a split second before giving me a small smile that tugs at the corners of his mouth.
"miyamoto it's great to see you!" the familiar sweet voice of midoriya causes me to turn in his direction. he has a big smile on his face as he walks over to me.
"it's good to see you too midoriya! how was your break?" the slightly taller boy uses his empty hand to rub the back of his neck.
"it was pretty good," he slightly trails off and i tilt my head slightly in confusion. "i want to apologize for bombarding you at the tournament is all!" he hinges at the hips to bow in front of me apologetically.
"oh no no no there's no need for that midoriya. i know you were just curious is all so don't apologize for wanting to learn more about my quirk!" i pat his shoulder quickly as to not create a burn mark in his uniform. when he meets my eyes, his checks slightly flush.
"w-well thank you for that miyamoto." all i can do is smile at the nervous boy. "i can show you where you're sitting if you want."
"that would be helpful thank you so much midoriya!" he flushes even more as he abruptly turns away from me and robotically begins to walk towards the desks.
midoriya and i greet jirou and shoji as we pass by them in the first row. right behind the girl was an empty desk. my new desk. i smile at the mere thought of taking notes here and doing homework.
it may sound silly to others but i genuinely enjoy school. do i do good in school all the time? not necessarily not, but i enjoy it nonetheless.
"tadaaa!" midoriya puts both of his arms out in a showing motion at the empty desk. with that, a familiar scoff sounded behind me and midoirya noticeably stiffened when he looks at the presence of someone at my back.
"i have to sit next to this loser? are you fuckin kidding me right now!" bakugou's words were sharp with the intent to harm lacing them. then i felt a shove at my shoulder as the boy passed by me and slinked into the seat next to my new one.
"m-my seat is right behind kacchan's so if you ever need anything i'll be right over here!" he nervously spit his words out like they were burning his tongue as they came out.
"i wanted to thank you again for lord explosion junior bakugou," i say to the boy next to me. "my brother futoshi was mad at me for not bringing him one home too."
"what the hell ever!"

the day comes and goes in the blink of an eye. the first period was just starting, and now here i am standing in the middle of the cafeteria with the tray in my hands, having no idea where to sit.
eiji told me that he couldn't get lunch today because he has homework he has to finish before the end of the day. thankfully, aizawa sensei told me i didn't have to worry about getting homework in until next week since i'm coming in a little late.
"miyaaa come sit with us!" i hear ashido's cheery voice call out to me from across the room. my eyes land on the pink haired girl who is jumping in the air and waving at me. with a smile, i make my way over to her as the anxiety of not having anywhere to sit washes away.
kaminari, jirou, and sero give me a wave as i set my tray down next to ashido's, bakugou only scoffing towards me on the other side of the table.
"how are you enjoying your first real day?" sero asks me excitedly.
"i'm really liking it actually thank you for asking!"
"what's your favorite subject as of right now? jirou leans on her palm over the table in question.
"i'm not the best at any of them but my favorite right now is history." i rub the back of my neck in slight embarrassment at the confession. i've never been the best student, futoshi got all the smarts and has been tutoring me ever since i could remember.
we begin to make small talk about the day so far and the other subjects we're looking forward to. all the while, kaminari is shoveling food into his mouth making all of us chuckle when he attempts to speak with a bunch of rice in his mouth.
"you nasty ass that's disgusting!" the ash blond next to him yells in his ear making us all chuckle even harder. i turn my attention to the table, taking in the moment like i had done over the weekend when we spent that time together at the ramen shop.
my eyes catch onto dark red ones that bore into my silver ones. i feel like a deer in the headlights the way he's looking at me, as if he's trying to read my mind.
i feel self conscious the longer he stares and break the staring contest to look down at my fingers, pulling on them as the rough texture of burns takes my attention away from him.
the bell echoes through the cafeteria signaling the end of the lunch period. everyone stands from their seats and go to put their trays away.
we all chat with each other on our way back to our homeroom class, with the exception of bakugou who is instead screaming at kaminari for saying something to him. causing the yellow headed boy to book it down the hall with the blond following close behind.
we watch the scene go down as we continue down the hall. i stop to look out the window as my eyes catch on the turning of bright green leaves fade into a brilliant orange.
i feel a smile begin to grow on my face.
fall will be coming soon.
and with fall comes change.
