"ko are you dead or something?" futoshi's question followed by a hard poke in the back, jolts me upwards from my half sleeping state. my head begins to pound and i squint my eyes from the bright light of the lamp in the corner of our living room.

"what did you say?" my voice comes out gravely from the dryness in my throat. i turn my head slowly to find my twin brother standing above me, with a disgusted and worried look on his face.

"okay i'm actually kind of worried about you ko, what's going on?" i blink a few times as i watch him carefully lower himself down onto the floor next to me and begins to grab the papers i was laying on, studying over them.

"i'm okay i promise futo, just getting ready for finals is all," he looks up at me with his brows furrowed. "that only scratches the surface with the amount of work i should be doing to study." i note as i point at the papers in his hand.

he puts down the pile and gets up walking towards the kitchen. i rub my eyes, hoping to rub away the sleep along with it.

my body feels as if it's going to implode not only from the amount of math problems i'm struggling with, but also from the intense training bakugou has been putting me through the last week and a half.

"drink up," futoshi sets down a glass of water in front of me with a harsh glance. i do as he says and begin to gulp down the cool liquid, feeling rejuvenated already. i bend my body all around, the sound of my cracking bones echo through the living room.

"thank you futo, i feel much better now. back to work i go," as i go to pick up my pencil, my twin knocks it out of my hand and it clatters against the hardwood, across the living room floor. i look up at my brother with knitted brows.

"what was that for? i have a lot of work t-"

"what you are going to do is tell that asshole that you can't train tomorrow," the words sound less like a statement and more like a command. he crosses his arms over his chest as he peers down at me with a fire burning in his eyes.

"but finals are next week and i'm not nearly up to my full capacity for the physical exam portion."

"you've been leaving before the sun rises and coming back home smelling like a pile of hot garbage, take a shower, then sit out here until you repeat everything again." his words come out harsh, but there is compassion weaved into his voice.

he's right though. i've been pushed to my absolute limit when it comes to sparring with bakugou. with no rest days and barely enough time to fully focus on recovering and studying for the paper exam, i can barely even make the trek back home.

one night when i was coming back from training, i missed my stop on the train because i couldn't even get up from the seat.

i let out a large sigh as i shut my eyes and let my head hang in defeat.

"you're right futoshi i-," my voice comes out strained as i have to hold myself back from apologizing to my other half. "i'll text him now and let him know."

a sigh of victory comes from above me as futoshi struts away and back to our shared room.

i pull out my phone from under the piles of papers and open up bakugou's contact, quickly scanning over the short messages of him telling me to 'hurry the hell up' or 'what is taking your slow ass so long'.

i set down my phone back onto the table with a soft smile tugging at the corners of my mouth. with this new found determination surging through me, i clean up the mess of my work area making it more tidy and less stressful.

i get up from my sitting position on the floor and stretch out my entire body and grab the pencil that futoshi swatted from me, and move back to my area. without giving myself a moment to doubt my abilities to study the material bakugou suggested in such a short time span, i flip to the math lessons and begin to work.

i'm going to do better.
