the silent buzzing of my phone tucked away in my back pocket grabs my attention away from the produce i'm eyeing.
"ah a message from eiji." a subconscious smile tugs at the corners of my mouth as i open up the message.

eiji hey ko! whatcha got goin on today?
ko nothing much! just doing some grocery shopping now :)
eiji so manly of you :,) well a bunch of us are getting together today and i wanted to invite you!
just thought it would be good bonding before school starts again!
ko that sounds like fun what are you guys planning on doing?
eiji we're probs going to get some food and maybe the arcade?

the quiet day i thought i was going to have is now going to be filled with some new friends. my smile grows as i turn my attention back to the produce in search of the best apple among the bunch.

"hey futo i'm going out but dinner is ready in the fridge to be warmed up!" i yell as i slide off my house slippers and go to pull on the worn out sneakers i've had since middle school.
"yeah yeah thanks i guess." his lower toned voice is scratchy behind me. i turn after pulling on the sneakers to my bed headed twin.
"do you have a date or something? why are you so dressed up?"
"no not at all! do i look over dressed to be hanging out with my classmates?" i scan over the white t-shirt that's under the above the knee length light blue dress it took me way too long to put together.
