DANIELA CRUZ was sitting down on the couch at Grandma Kat's house, scrolling on her phone. Tariq was standing in the kitchen, cooking breakfast for everyone. Today was their first day back for their new semester at Stansfield University.
Daniela had been staying at her grandma's house, with Tariq, for the past month. They just been laying low, away from Noma and all of the Tejada's. Their life was somewhat peaceful, now, which she was thankful for.
She officially marked thirty weeks, and eight months pregnant, a couple days ago. Therefore, she had to do check ups, with the doctor, every week, now. The baby would be coming any day, now.
"Here you go, baby." Tariq said, as he placed a plate of food onto her lap. "Oh, thank you. It looks great, babe." Daniela complimented, before picking up her fork and eating her eggs. "You know, I can do a little something." Tariq joked.
Daniela giggled, as she ate her food and Tariq did the same. Grandma Kat, then, walked downstairs and entered the living room, causing them to look back at her.
"Goodmorning." Grandma Kat spoke. "Morning." Tariq and Daniela replied, in union. "Y'all going back to school, today?" Grandma Kat asked. "Yes, we are." Daniela answered. "Are you sure it's safe?" Grandma Kat queried.
"Probably not, but, we gotta go. It's the first day and I don't wanna miss anything. Every day that I miss, delays my start at law school." Daniela said. "I just want you and the baby to be okay." Grandma Kat told her. "Me too." Tariq agreed.
"Guys, I'll be fine. Besides, they're after Tariq and Brayden. Not me." Daniela said. "Baby, they're after all of us. Including you. Just watch your back." Tariq told her. "I know. I got you." Daniela assured. "Aight, well, let's get going." Tariq said.
Daniela and Tariq finished the last pieces of their food, before he grabbed both of the plates. Tariq tossed the plates in the sink, and grabbed his backpack off the dining table.
Grandma Kat and Daniela exchanged a hug, as he watched them in awe.
"Be safe, babygirl. Come back, whenever you need me again, okay?" Grandma Kat said.
"Of course, G- ma. I will." Daniela promised, making her smile.
"Tariq, honey, keep her safe." Grandma Kat told him and he nodded his head. "Always, ma'am. You have nothing to worry about." Tariq reassured. "Come here, son." Grandma Kat encouraged, as she held both of her arms out.
Grandma Kat pulled Tariq in for a hug, causing him to hug back. Daniela grinned, as she watched their interaction. She was happy that her Grandma Kat approved of him. She even said that Tariq reminded her of Dominic, in a weird way.
