DANIELA CRUZ walked into the classroom, with her phone in her hand as she sent a text to Monet. She sat down in her usual seat beside Brushandria, who was admiring her fake acrylic nails.
To: Monet Did Zeke turn himself in yet?
Ding!
From: Monet They released him.
To: Monet What? Why?
"You okay?" Bru asked, as Daniela placed her phone into her pocket. "Yeah. I'm good." Daniela assured. "So, what's up with you and Tariq?" Bru questioned. "What do you mean?" Daniela queried. "I overheard you guys talking." Bru said.
"We had a thing going on, but it's over. He's with Lauren, now." Daniela stated. "I'm sorry. I know how much you liked him." Bru said. "It's fine. I'm not tripping off, Tariq. He made his choice, so I gotta make mine." Daniela told her.
Professor Milgram and Rashad Tate walked into the classroom, gaining everyone's attention.
Daniela watched as Professor Milgram began to write the word Karma on the board, with the piece of chalk in her hand.
"Karma?" Daniela questioned. "That wasn't in last night's reading." Ashley stated. "I know. I thought I'd keep everyone on their toes." Professor Milgram said. "But wouldn't that be more theological, than ethical?" Brushandria inquired.
"Who can define karma for me?" Professor Milgram asked.
"Karma is the belief in certain Indian religions that our actions good or bad can affect our lives." Lauren informed.
"Why would that be important in ethical discourse?" Professor Milgram asked.
Daniela furrowed her eyebrows, as she thought about the question.
"Tariq, enlighten us." Professor Milgram said, catching Tariq's attention.
"Well, it provides incentive for moral action. Karma is the law of cause and effect." Tariq stated.
"Exactly. You know, I was just thinking-" Tate said .
"I think that you can dig deeper, Tariq." Professor Milgram interrupted.
"Karma's basically if you do dirt, then you get it back." Bru chimed in.
