DANIELA CRUZ was sitting in the doctor's office, with Brushandria as they waited for the doctor to come in the room. She twiddled with her fingers nervously, as she thought deeply of what she was going to do with her life.
"Hello, Ms. Cruz. I'm Dr. Nina. Its nice to meet you, honey." Dr. Nina introduces herself, as she reaches out her hand. "Hi, nice to meet you." Dani replied, shaking her hand. "Is this your sister?" Dr. Nina asked, referring to Brushaundria.
"Oh, uh, no, this is my best friend." Daniela told her. "Hi, I'm Bru." Bru introduced herself. "Hi, it's nice to meet you as well." Dr. Nina said. "Likewise." Bru replied. "So, you came in today because you wanted to confirm if you're pregnant, right?" Dr. Nina asked and Daniela nodded.
"Well, your test came back positive. So, yes, you are indeed with child, Ms. Cruz." Dr. Nina informed, making Daniela sigh deeply. "Are you sure?" Daniela asked, making Bru laugh. "Girl, she has a degree. I think we can trust her word." Bru said.
"Yeah, uh, I'm sure, honey. You're actually 14 weeks pregnant to be exact, so, you're almost in your second trimester." Dr. Nina informed.
"Oh my god. This cannot be happening to me, right now. Fuck." Daniela stressed. "This isn't something she really wanted right now." Bru explained. "I understand. She's young, so, I wouldn't expect a different reaction." Dr. Nina said.
"So, what exactly are my options at this point in my pregnancy?" Daniela asked.
"Well, being that you're still early on, you have a few options to choose from. If you wanted to keep the baby, we'd just get you some prenatal vitamins and schedule some doctor visits. If you're considering adoption, we could help you look at some families. If you are thinking of terminating the pregnancy, well, you'd only have a few more weeks to do so." Dr. Nina explained.
"I honestly don't know what I wanna do right now, so, I guess I just need some time." Dani admitted and Dr. Nina nodded. "Understandable. I'll send you home with some brochures to look through, it could help you make your decision." Dr. Nina told her. "Sure, why not?" Daniela remarked.
"Great. Also, here's the ultrasound pictures we took earlier." Dr. Nina said, as she handed her a folder and Daniela grabbed it.
"I'll see you soon, Daniela." Dr. Nina said, before walking out of the room.
Dani opened the folder and looked at the ultrasound of the unborn child that was inside of her. She sighed as Bru stood up. Daniela couldn't believe she was actually carrying a baby.
