It was getting later in the night, and the bar was even busier at 11 pm. Her head seemed to be spinning, either from disbelief or the alcohol.  Her sister left with Darius an hour ago because he was too intoxicated to walk straight, but she stayed.   It wasn't very often she got a night to herself without tiny hands grabbing her hair or clothes.

It would have been perfect if her self-doubt wasn't holding her back. She swore she saw it. She knows she saw it, but then again she was 5 drinks in by then, and her bloodstream betrayed her because an unspeakably attractive hard was right in front of her.   If she were shameless enough she would have done something she couldn't take back.

Not like she'd want to.

The entire time they were right beside her, talking her ear off.

And yet it was the most beautiful sound.

After the 7th glass, she stopped actually listening to what they were saying to her, and just enjoying the sound of their voice.  All the while looking out for their wife. "Eda? Are you listening?" Raine asked, putting their hand on the woman's shoulder. She looked over at them, an involuntary smile on her face.   "Yes Raine, I'm listening" she replied, her motherly tone coming out.  They chuckled. "Just make sure, I wanted to ask if you've seen Steph around"

Her body tensed up before answering. "N-no!.. I haven't... But I can go look" Eda muttered, as she stood up.  Adjusting her skirt, then walking off.

As Eda walked through the crowded bar, her heart sank when she spotted Stephenie passionately kissing another woman.

Rage boils within her at the sight of this betrayal towards Raine, one of her closest friends. Jealousy creeps in as she watches Stephenie indulging in intimate moments with someone else while Raine sits obliviously at the bar.

She'd give Raine every part of her just for a kiss.

The conflicting emotions swirling inside the woman intensified, a deep ache for Raine's trust being betrayed, and inevitable hurt caused by their wife's infidelity. But a sharp pang of jealousy engulfs her that Stephenie gets to be with them, yet still dares to betray their trust so callously.

She would have confronted her, but... She felt like it wasn't her place to say anything. However before she could leave, Stephenie locked eyes with her, then pushed the other woman back, and started charging for Eda.

She wasn't as confrontational as she used to be...

Eda went in the opposite direction, heading back to the bar with Raine.

She sat back down, noticing Stephenie didn't follow her. But she could feel Stephenie's gaze burning through her head. "Did you find her?" Raine asked, getting a little excited.  Eda looked down, the brushed her hair behind her ear. "Y-yeah.. She's uhm.. In the bathroom"   Eda sighed,  her chest compacting from lying. "Oh alright, maybe I should go wait for her then"  Raine suggested, starting to get up.  Through a wave of panic, she grabbed their arm and pulled them into a hug.  Immediately her heart started racing the way their head planted in her chest, and their hesitate response to hug her back.

"Eda?.. Is everything okay?"  They asked, confused by her gesture. The ginger-haired woman bit her lip. "Y-yes.. I just saw something I shouldn't of today. And. I guess it messed me up a little"  she explained. She couldn't tell them exactly what she saw. Because again she felt like it wasn't her place to say anything. But she wouldn't deny having them hug her felt really good.

That strong grip could take her anywhere.

"Calamity, are you alright?" The hard finally asked, taking a step back. "Raine, I'm sure she's fine," Stephenie said, walking up to Raine. Her friend then took a step back, taking their wife's hand. Eda sat there, frowning.

She hated that unfaithful bitch..

Raine However leaned in the kiss their wife's temple, only for her to pull away, and hold her hands out to them.  Eda cringed, noticing the utter disrespect, and cruel gesture.   Raine chuckled, and handed her their car keys, which she snatched and left the bar.  "She's such a Kidder" Raine gushed, with a silly wide smile.    Eda sighed, questioning how they couldn't realize what was going on. "Good night rainestorm" eda muttered with a small wave.    Raine of course waved back, but all eda could see was the pretty wedding band on their finger.

It made her feel sick that they laid down with a woman who didn't truly love or respect them. "Raine, before you go I just.."

The words seemed to be stuck in her throat, however the woman stood up in front of them.  "Raine.. You so smart..you know?" She asked, putting her hands on their shoulders. Maybe it was sudden bravery.. Or desperation to somewhat lead them to the truth. "Thank you eda, but.. What are you getting at?"   The bard asked, tilting their head. "Just..look just a little closer at people your really close to. Even for just a second. Look a little closer at behavior.. Tone of voice. The works, okay?" Eda asked.

They seemed surprised, taking a step back. "Eda. W-what are you talking about? Who are you talking about?" They asked her, holding her wrists.  Eda bit her bottom lip. "I can't say.. But your my friend. So just watch your back, okay?" She asked, seeing them nod slowly.

She smiled, then grabbed her purse. "See you another time, Raine" eda whispered, and left the bar quietly.

Getting home was probably the best part of her night by far. After checking on her daughter, and changing her clothes, she crawled in bed.   Her long sigh hit her hard, giving her time to decompress.  "Clawthorne..that stupid hard will be your downfall" she told herself, her phone over her heart.

Raine however, drove home like the good partner they were.  Once getting home, they, and their wife changed clothes and got in bed.  Once again, Raine tried to hold their wife, only to be rejected.

The same as the last 7 years of their relationship.

Stephenie told them she didn't enjoy cuddling or any other type of affection other than sex, and she didn't want to have sex with them often.  So like the kind respectful person they were, they acomodated to her needs, and let her be.

However eda's words seemed to echo in their mind.

Watch your back, okay?

It made them wonder who could of made eda say that to them. However they trusted her, and would 100% take her word for it.

While laying next to their wife, they heard nothing but the ringing in their eat from the silence.   Then remembered the wise words of their mother from hears ago.

Rainey, sweetheart. I don't mean to pry, but.. I think your choosing the wrong girl.
